|| THIRD PERSON ||

It had been four years since Jughead Jones had been in Riverdale. The town hadn't changed in the slightest, except that there were a couple houses around that he was sure he hadn't seen before. Other than a few new faces, Riverdale was still the same.

Jughead didn't really want to go back in town—if it weren't for his best friend, he wouldn't have gotten on the next flight to the airport near Riverdale and drove an hour into town. But he had to do all those, because his best friend, Archie Andrews, was getting married.

Unlike him, Archie stayed in Riverdale and took charge of his father's construction business and left town mostly because of business meetings. Jughead thinks that's how his best friend met the girl he was going to get married to, Veronica Lodge, a former New York socialite. He hasn't met her in real life—only from the pictures Archie showed him—and has only seen Archie personally three times in the past four years, only meeting up whenever their schedules allowed them to and Archie was in the same town as he was and had some time to spare.

According to Archie, he met Veronica in a bar that he and his colleagues went to after one of their business meetings two years ago and they hit it off, like he's known he his entire life. Turns out that they've both been in a long distance relationship, visiting each other as much as they could and spending the other days facetiming. If he remembers correctly, Archie brought Veronica back home in Riverdale to meet his family one summer, and she loved the town so they would be living there as soon as they got married.

Jughead never knew how Archie got so tied down to Riverdale. Their original plan was that they would share an apartment together somewhere outside Riverdale, and they'd go to college—Jughead as a photographer and Archie as a musician or a football athlete. But then one day Archie said he wouldn't leave anymore, and Jughead respected his decision and left town on his own. He knew he had to leave town, no matter what the circumstances are, whether Archie will be with him or not.

Jughead stared out of the window of his jeep, parked outside the new Andrews residence. It was one of the things that changed in Riverdale, Archie's new house that he built a few blocks from his childhood home where his father still lived. There was a sleek black car that was parked right in front of him, he assumed it was Archie's new car. Jughead sighed deeply before he pushed the car door open and stepped out, and for the first in four years set foot in Riverdale and took a deep breath of its air.

The door opened as soon as Jughead stepped out, both Archie and Veronica running out to greet him. "Jug!"Archie had a grin on his face as he pulled his best friend in for an embrace, which Jughead returned. "You came!"Archie spoke as if he were surprised that Jughead was even there, and truthfully, he was. He wasn't entirely sure that Jughead would show up just because his wedding would be held in Riverdale.

"Of course I came."Jughead said as he pulled away from Archie, a small smile on his face. "It's my best friend's wedding, of course I wouldn't miss it for the world."

"I knew you were always such a softie."Archie teased, nudging him, and immeidately Jughead frowned. "I am not a softie!"He protested, but Archie laughed at him before he turned to face Veronica. She stood beside him, and his arms snaked around her waist. "This is Veronica Lodge, my wife-to-be."Archie introduced, smiling down at his fiancée. "And this is Jughead Jones, my best friend."

Veronica shook Jughead's hand. "I heard so much about you!"She told him, and Jughead forced a small smile. "All good things, I hope."He said with a slight chuckle, which only caused Archie to laugh some more. "Come on, Jug, let's get inside. I'll help with your bags."Veronica entered the house while Archie and Jughead unloaded his jeep, carrying his bags into the house and setting it down by the living room.

"I hope you haven't eaten lunch yet, Jughead."Veronica said as she stood by the kitchen, contuining her cooking. "I made pot roast and a couple more dishes."Jughead smirked at the mention of food, sitting down with Archie at the living room. "I'm always hungry, yeah."He replied with a small smile.

"We're actually waiting for Veronica's maid of honor too."Archie told him, and Jughead nodded in reply. "Betty Cooper, she's Ronnie's best friend. Heads up, though, there isn't much room in the hosue right now so you'll have to share a room."Jughead's eyebrows furrowed, not to keen on the idea of sleeping with someone—not in a sexual way—that he didn't know anything about. Archie leaned forward and whispered to him.

"Just between you and me, Veronica wants you two to date."Archie said with a mischievous smile. "You're both single, and I think you should both give it a try."

Jughead nodded.

Betty arrived at the Andrews residence an hour after Jughead did. She got lost and ended up a few blcoks away and had to ask for directions to get to the house. As soon as she turned off the engine of the car, Veronica was already running down the steps of their house, squealing loudly as she attacked her best friend with a bear hug. "Oh my god, B!"

"It's nice to see you too, V."Betty laughed softly, pulling away from her best friend. Archie walked up to Veronica's side, and Jughead, unsure of what to do, stood beside them. Once he laid his eyes on Betty he felt his heart flutter, and so did hers when she caught a glance of Jughead. She blushed slightly and kept her eyes on Veronica's as much as she could, though she could feel Jughead's eyes on her.

He's so handsome, holy shît, Veronica didn't warn me.

"This is Archie, my fiancé."Veronica spoke, smiling up at the redhead whose arms were wrapped around her. "And this is Jughead Jones, Archie's best friend and best man at the wedding."Now Betty had no choice but to meet Jughead's gaze once again, smiling at him. He returned the smile.

"Boys, this is Betty Cooper, my best friend since childhood."Veronica said with a wide smile, moving over to Betty's side to give her one last side hug before her eyes widened. "Oh my God, wait, I totally forgot about the pie!"She panicked, runnign bakc intot he house, demanding that Archie come and help her. Betty and Jughead were left outside, and a small chuckle escaped Jughead's lips.

"I'm Jughead."He introduced once again, and Betty could feel her smile widen. "Is that a nickname?"She asked, and Jughead only laughed. "It's a nickname for a much worst name."He said with a shrug, and Betty giggled softly. God, that giggle. Jughead thought to himself. "I'm Betty."She told him. "Short for Elizabeth."

"Mine's short for Forsythe."Betty burst into a fit of laughter at what he told her, and Jughead playfully rolled his eyes at her. "I know, I know. My father had a cruel sense of humor."Jughead laughed along with her, shoving his hands in his pockets before nodding at the trunk of her car. "Need some help with your bags?"He asked her, and Betty nodded in rpely. "Yes please."

Meanwhile, Archie and Veronica watched through a window, peeking behind the blinds with wide grins on their faces. "Do you think they're gonna hit it off?"Archie asked, vocie filled with hope. "Do I think they'll hit it off? Are you kidding me?"Vernica hufffed at her fiancé. "They're so endgame already!"

Veronica was right.
