|| THIRD PERSON ||
"What the hell were you thinking?"
Betty Cooper couldn't recall another moment in her life wherein she felt so agitated and annoyed. Seated on her bed was the raven-haired heiress herself, Veronica Lodge, her best friend since freshman year of high school. The two girls were currently lounging in the living area of the small New York apartment that they have been sharing for three years now—ever since they started going to the New York University for college.
"If it makes you feel better, I was completely sober when I decided to set you up on a date with Jughead." Veronica said to her, holding the glass of wine in her hand, taking a sip. "He's single, you're single, and I'm just that godmother doing you two a favor." She tried reasoning with her, but the blonde beauty was having none of it.
"I don't care, Veronica! I told you so many times already, I'm not interested in having a relationship right now." Betty sighed, pacing back and forth in front of Veronica.
"I knew it, you're clearly not over him." Veronica rolled her eyes, earning a glare from Betty. "I'm over Chuck! Just because I don't want a relationship now doesn't mean that I'm still pining for that...that jerk!"
"Prove it, then." Veronica challenged, putting her glass on the coffee table, looking up at betty. "Go on this date with Jughead, just this one. After that, you don't have to see him ever again if it's what you want. I won't meddle in your love life again. Besides, Archie thinks it's a good idea for you guys to...mingle."
Betty let out a scoff. Of course, Archie was in on this. He and Veronica have only been dating for a couple of months, but they seemed to be so close already. From the stories that Veronica told her, Jughead is Archie's best friend since they were kids, and just like her and Veronica, they decided to stick together. Apparently, he goes to NYU as well, but Betty hasn't met him yet.
"You better show up Friday night, Elizabeth Cooper." Veronica said, standing up. She flashed her a mischievous smile before she started to make her way to her room. "Love you for this!" She shouted, and then closed the door of her room after her. Betty was left outside, alone with her thoughts. She sighed and picked up her own glass, pouring some wine into it, and sat down.
She didn't look forward to Friday night at all.

The days passed by pretty quickly, much to Betty's dismay. Before she knew it, she was already standing up in front of her closet, a towel wrapped around her freshly-bathed body, deciding on which outfit she should wear for her date with Jughead. Earlier that day, she was determined to show up dressed like garbage so that Jughead wouldn't bother asking for a second date, but then it occurred to her that maybe he didn't want to go on a date just as much as she did, maybe even more.
Really, she didn't have any reason to be whining and complaining about being forced to go on a date with him, because once she thought about it, he is forced to go on a date with her too.
"You should wear something sexy, Betty." Veronica said, seated on her bed, ready to give her some fashion tips. "Maybe something red, that'll surely give sultry vibes. Oh! Do you remember your red dress that has a deep plunging neckline? You should wear that so Jughead will-"
"Will you calm down, V? I'm not trying to seduce Jughead, I'm just going on this one date with him." Betty sighed, picking out one a new navy blue blouse that she bought just the week before but never got the chance to wear it yet. It was a chiffon blouse and had a V-neckline—not plunging like Veronica suggested earlier. She paired it off with a pair of jeans and sandals.
