A week has passed since I took responsibility of running the Red and Black.

The school paper of Southside High was a direct opposite of the school paper of Riverdale High, the Blue and Gold, which was now—and might I add, single-handedly—run by Betty Cooper. Betty also happened to be my girlfriend for five months now, and I'd like to think that even these two publications are a reflection of who we are as a couple. The pairing no one thought would go well together.

The perfect girl and the loner weirdo.

The sunny innocent girl and the rebel without a cause.

Light and dark, the sun and the moon.

The Northside and the Southside.

Blue and Gold, Red and Black.

It didn't occur to me that I have spent almost an hour spinning around in my chair, thinking of what to write, until my phone buzzed on the table beside my laptop. My eyes quickly darted to the screen, curious of who the caller was. Once I realized it was Betty I picked it up, pressing the answer option and pressed the phone against my ear. "Hey, baby."I spoke with a smile, leaning back into my chair.

"Hey, babe, just wanted to check in with you today."Betty replied, her chirpy voice filling my senses and making me go weak. I furrowed my eyebrows slightly, playing around in my swivel chair, chuckling softly. "Betty, you never just 'check in' with me."I said. "What's wrong?"

Betty was silent for a while, and soon enough she hung up on him. I was confused—why'd Betty hang up with me. I stared down at my phone, unknowingly muttering words as I waited for her to call me back. Maybe the signal just wasn't good where she was.

"Dammit, why'd she hang up?"I mumbled, refreshing my phone over and over again, hoping that she at least left a text message for him. "What the fúck is going on?"I muttered to myself, eyebrows furrowed as I leaned back into my chair. I blinked my eyes several times and heaved a soft sigh, putting my fingers over the keyboard, deciding that it would be best if I finished my work before i headed back home.

I need to get this done now.

Southside High isn't the safest place in Riverdale, especially during the night. You just never know who is in the building with you until you come across them.

"Oh, so this is the Red and Black."

My head whipped around to see the familiar blonde haired girl, a smile on her face and a box in her arms as she looked around the messy office. Shït, Betty can't be here. Does Betty even know this place? How dangerous it is for her to be here at this time, or any other time for that matter!

"Betty, you can't be here unless you are armed."I immediately spoke out of concern, and her smile suddenly turns into a frown, unsatisfied by my greeting. "Hello to you too, boyfriend."She mocked, exaggerating the last word. I let out a chuckle and rolled my eyes playfully, mesmerized by the cute giggle that escaped her lips as she placed the box on one of the tables filled with stacks of old papers.
