third person povScarlett ate a lot of food and spoke to a lot of people during the night. She was asked to dance a good amount of times and she was also asked about her father's company.
It was how she'd imagined it to be, some people were snobby and felt like they were better than everyone else while some were kind and funny. There were those who got drunk and those who talked about dieting and never drinking. There were those who talked about fashion and those who didn't care for it.
For Scarlett, it reminded her of high school and how people would split themselves up in groups. There were the populars, the fashionistas, the gossips, the Girl/Boy Scouts, the leaders, those who didn't really fit in to one group, but multiple, and then there were the outsiders. Scarlett didn't take liking to it, but there wasn't really anything she could do about it.
Scarlett stood in her dress at the party with Andrew, talking about their businesses, some gossip, and plans they had. Scarlett found it oh so boring, but couldn't really tell him that since it was his party.
"Was a little worried you wouldn't make it to the party, but I'm happy you did. You looked beautiful tonight," Andrew smiled to Scarlett as they talked. There was a group of them at first, but one by one each of the people left.
"Thank you," Scarlett smiled, politely. Thinking about what the boys told her, Scarlett wanted to be careful around Andrew.
"I was thinking...in the near future we should-"
"Ms. Huang," Bufan said, making Scarlett's eyebrows raise.
Ms. Huang, she mocked in her head.
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry to disturb you, but there's an emergency back in China. We must get going, Mr. Qui has booked us a flight on the next plane that leaves in less than an hour," Qin Fen informed Scarlett. Worry spiked in her and she immediately worried about her family.
"I have to go. My family is having an emergency. I'm so sorry, Andrew. Please excuse me," Scarlett said before running off with the two men. Her heart was going to explode in her chest from fear.

During Scarlett's thirteen hour flight, Qin Fen filled her in on what he knew.
Scarlett's Father had a heart attack, but her brother nor any of the boys were informed about it. Her father specifically asked for her to return and not to waste time in doing so.
When arriving, Scarlett was informed her luggage was lost so she just left, in a rush. Nothing was important to her in it since most of her things were in the backpack she took on the plane with her.
"Ms. Huang," Mr. Qui called upon seeing her when she opened her car door. She was now wearing more comfortable clothes and no more makeup covered her face.
"Where's my father? How is he," Scarlett asked walking up the steps of the estate as he waited on the stairs before joining her.
"He's resting in his room. You can't see him now, but you can come back tomorrow. However, your father needs me to talk to you about something very important."
"Alright," Scarlett nodded as the two of them stopped near the front door of the house. "What is it?"
Mr. Qui shoved his hands into the pockets of his suit pants before he spoke, "Your father has been having doctors appointments lately and his health isn't good. He tried to hold out as much as he could, but it seems that more problems with his health are showing up..."
Scarlett chewed her lips knowing where this was going. She had hoped she had more time, but time wasn't on her side. Not that it ever was.
"Go on."
"You're to take up the business in a year's time," Mr. Qui informed as Scarlett stared at the floor. "When the semester ends, you'll be traveling between here and Los Angeles. I will be helping you in your transition for now and I will be setting up your schedule. You're going to take online advanced courses so that you have a degree before the company is passed to you. You're going to be announced-"
"I want to wait until last minute," Scarlett cut the man off before looking to him. "The announcement of my succession will be announced only a couple days before I take over the company. Until then, I don't want anyone to know about it. I want a low profile and I don't want the media on my ass. We both know how they are with health and women taking over businesses."
"Of course, Ms. Huang. You don't need to worry. That is all, I will contact you with any other information." Mr. Qui nodded to her, firmly. She nodded once before turning to the stairs to leave. "I hope that you're aware of what you're doing, Xiulan. There's a lot that you're sacrificing..."
"I know," she said and left.
