"Jiejie, I swear. I swear I didn't mean to hurt you. I just...I just-"

"I know," Scarlett blinked away the tears that stung her eyes. Although she was hurt, she knew that her brother hadn't meant to hit her. She knew that it was just a spur of the moment type of thing, but it still hurt her so much. To hear him say those word sent a shiver down her spine and suddenly all the marks Hunter left on her body burned. "C'mon, we need to talk."

"Crimson," Yanjun grabbed her wrist when she turned to leave and wanted Justin to follow. Her eyes looked to his hand wrapped around her small wrist and moved to his face. A pained look masked it.

"It's fine," she spoke slowly as he in, turn slowly released her. Her wrist fell from his hand and she walked off with Justin trailing behind her.

"I'm sorry," Justin repeated for the fifth time as he and his sister walked off to find somewhere where the two of them could quietly talk.

"I forgive you," she said for the fifth time. The Huang siblings reached the small empty waiting room on the level and Scarlett sat in one of the chairs before motioning her younger brother to sit beside her.

He silently complied to her request and took the old hospital seat beside her. He didn't know what to expect of the talk, maybe she was going to scold him or yell at him for hitting her. He wasn't sure since she had told him she forgave him, but still that look in her eyes. It made his body tense and stiffen like a statue.

Justin laced his fingers and squeezed his clammy hands together. He placed then right below his belly button and looked over to his sister who stared forward with an unsure look on her face. Both of them were nervous and it was hard to decipher who was more nervous about their talk.

"Justin," Scarlett spoke after what seemed like forever. She stared forward still, but Justin was looking at her. "I...I want you to know that I did want to tell you about Dad. I really did, but it was a request that he had made so I followed along with it."

"But why," Justin's voice cracked. "Why did he decide you get to know and not me? If...If something happened to him I would have to take over the company and I'm not ready. I'm not ready to give my life up and-"

"You won't have to," Scarlett cut him off, her eyes moving ever so slowly to him. He opened his mouth, but closed it like a fish out of water and opened it again.

"What do you...what do you mean?"

Scarlett looked over Justin's face. He was no longer crying and the tip of his nose wasn't pink anymore. The swelling of his eyes and lips were slowly deflating, but there was still the trail of dried tears.

Scarlett licked her lips and looked away before speaking, "Before I tell you, I want you to know that everything I've ever done in my life was always my choice. Everything I do is my choice and no one is to blame for anything bad that happened or happens to me except for me. You have to promise that you can't blame yourself for anything having to do with my choices no matter what...okay?"

Justin stared at her, "Jiejie, you're scaring me."

"There's nothing to be scared of," Scarlett told him like she did when they were kids after he watched a scary movie with her, Zhengting, and Chengcheng. "Now promise me."
