third person pov - one year later
Yanjun had been completely broken.
They didn't have to track the live video because a fire was reported at a warehouse just outside of the city. When the police got there, they found Scarlett's body burned and still in the chair. They didn't let anyone see the body, but tests were done and they confirmed it was her.
Not long after was her funeral. Yanjun has said some words, but wasn't able to get them all out. He couldn't and everyone could understand that.
Yanjun grew skinnier and wasn't able to sleep for days, but when he did, he woke up from nightmare just like Scarlett had except when he woke up it was the same as sleeping. Scarlett wasn't there anymore. She wasn't lying in his arms or sleeping beside him.
Six months after Yanjun lost Scarlett, he went home to live with his family while he was trying to find peace, but the moment he would think he was okay, he felt everything again.
Thinking of Scarlett killed Yanjun, but it also helped him live. The memories of her were his best and he didn't want to let her go. Even though just thinking of her killed him, he wanted to do it so he wouldn't forget her. Even in death she still held his heart in her hand.
Yanjun gripped the arm rest and pushed back any tears that may have tried to push themselves over. He didn't know if he had any left because he had cried so much the past year that he was sure there wasn't anymore.
"Sir, we've landed," a flight attendant tapped Yanjun on the shoulder before scooting out of the small space.
Yanjun looked around the airplane and saw that it was empty. The flight attendants were cleaning up and some were looking over at him as if asking if he was leaving yet.
"S-Sorry," Yanjun cleared his throat and unbuckled his seat's belt before standing to his feet while grabbing his bag. His swung it over his shoulder and strapped it on.
Yanjun got off the plane and was immediately hit with cool air from the airport. Like usual airports, it was busy with people running, walking, talking, sitting or even sleeping.
Yanjun went on and found his way through the airport to the baggage claim where he quickly got his luggage. After that, he caught a taxi to take him to his hotel.
He sat in the back and looked through the dark of night. His hotel wasn't in the city, it was in a small town that he heard of a couple times. It's a place where he'd wondered about for a while now and remembered the excitement in Scarlett's eyes when she talked about it.
He remembered how her eyes lit up and how her smile shined like a sun. Her remembered the happiness in her voice and the giggle that rang through the air. Her small, soft hand grasped his, as they laid in bed then she sat up, excited just over talking about it. He could imagine her bouncing up and down, pulling his hand as she moved her hands while talking.
A small smile pulled on his face taking in the memory then the car stopped and it disappeared.
"Here we are, sir."

Yanjun has stayed in his hotel trying to sleep, but when he couldn't he decided to go eat. Lucky for him, there was a place close by that wasn't too expensive and was open 24 hours.
He threw on some warm clothes and grabbed his wallet and phone before leaving his hotel. He slightly shivered from the cold air and breathed out to see his breath. Crossing his arms over his chest, he walked down the sidewalk sticking to any light he could.
Five minutes later, Yanjun entered a small place that had a sign with bright red and blue lights. When he entered, the bell on top of the door rang, signaling a newcomer. Yanjun looked around the small diner and sat at the bar that had two female workers. One was busy making a milkshake while the other was taking an old man's order. They were wearing matching uniforms which was a blue dress with a white apron over it.
"Hello, Sir," the lady with blonde hair smiled as he looked at the menu.
"Hello."
"What could I get you to drink?"
"Water is good," Yanjun gave her a smile and she nodded before leaving to get it for him. Yanjun bit the inside of his cheek as he looked at the menu again. His hand instinctively going to the ring that he had hanging around his neck by a thin chain.
The girl making a milkshake had just finished as the bell on top of the door rung again. She turned, her long black ponytail whipped as her cool blue eyes looked past Yanjun who was still focused on the list of foods.
"It's late," the girl with blue eyes commented as someone sat a stool away from Yanjun. The girl had handed a tall milkshake to the blonde worker who gave her a look before taking it away to the customer.
"I'm aware of the time, Jade," a female voice said and Yanjun went ridged. The ring he was messing with fell back into his clothes, hiding itself away. His heartbeat picked up and he swallowed hard as he glanced over to see a girl with fair skin, but that was all he could see.
"You shouldn't be here," Jade spoke, pouring the rest of the milkshake into a small cup. She placed it on the counter and slid it in her visitor's direction.
"Daniel let me come see you. Your boyfriend wanted to come too, but he's busy with the kid," the girl caught the cup and muttered a thank you before lifting it up.
Yanjun looked in the corner of his eye and saw her hood fall of her head to reveal dark brown hair that had now had see through bangs. She put the cup down and wiped her mouth with a napkin.
"You couldn't give me a straw?"
"You didn't ask," Jade shrugged her shoulders and the girl rolled her eyes and balled the napkin up before throwing it at her while laughing lightly.
Yanjun released a breath of air as the blonde woman came back to take his order.
"I should get back before he notices my disappearance."
Yanjun turned his head to look at the girl as she turned his direction to get off her stool. Their eyes met and everything had seemed to have gone slow motion. Her small slim nose, full pink lips, and unmistakeable big brown eyes. She had a scar at her hair line, but other than that she looked the same and she looked healthy.
"Rory," Jade said, snapping the girl and Yanjun out of their staring contest.
"Y-Yeah," Rory stuttered, breaking eye contact with Yanjun. Jade raised her eyebrows at her before cocking her head to the exit. "Oh yeah. Bye."
Rory met Yanjun's eyes once more and he wanted to grab her hand and tell her to stay with him, but even if they had some kind of moment, she didn't look like she knew who he was.
Scarlett didn't know who Yanjun was.
