"How long have you been dating our Yanjun again," Grandma asked since Yanjun and his grandpa went fishing together, leaving Scarlett to stay and hang out with the other women in his life. She didn't mind at all since it was one of the reasons she was there and because she needed to be around more female figures.
"Mom, I told you a gazillion times," Yanjun's mother said cutting up some vegetables. "They've been dating for six months."
Scarlett nodded her head then abruptly stopped when she realized what was said.
"S-Six months," Scarlett stuttered looking up from her laptop that she was doing her homework on.
"Has it been longer? I thought he said you started dating during January..."
"We didn't start dating until about two months ago...I didn't know he had a crush on me for that long," Scarlett muttered the last part.
"He's a strange boy, isn't he," his grandma laughed softly as she did a crossword puzzle from the newspaper.
"Yeah, but he's a very...sweet boy."
"What do you like about him?"
Scarlett bit her lips thinking about the boy. There was a lot of things that Scarlett liked about Yanjun. There was so many things she liked about him that she couldn't count them all.
"I like how he does the sweetest things without realizing it. He always makes jokes knowing that they're really bad, but tells them to make everyone smile. When he gets mad, it's usually because he cares and he'll usually think it through. He's also very selfless and tries to do what's best for everyone else. He does the smallest things that not many people think of...he's just a person I really admire. He reminds me of a character you find in a really good book and fall in love with," Scarlett smiled looking off. His mother and grandmother took note of the look in her eyes and smiled knowing how much she adored their Yanjun.
"Are you saying you're in love with me?"
Scarlett jumped, nearly falling out of her chair. She looked behind her, towards the door and saw Yanjun leaning against the doorway.
"Yanjun," she said, heart pounding in her chest. "Y-You're back early."
"It started raining a while ago. He didn't want to get a little muddy, little baby," his Grandpa shook his head in disappointment as he passed the tall boy. Scarlett looked at what Yanjun was wearing and it looked like he was going on a date not fishing.
"Why'd you wear nice clothes?"
"Why did you dodge my question?"
"Yanjun..."
"Crimson..."
"Yanjun, leave the girl alone and come play chess with me," Grandpa said bringing out an old wooden chess board that was sitting to the side.
"I forgot how to play. You'll have to teach me again," Yanjun frowned. "Let me change first and I'll play with you, Grandpa."
Yanjun quickly left for his room after getting the okay from his grandpa. He quickly changed into a pair of sweats along with a matching hoodie before making his way back into the room only to see Scarlett and his Grandpa playing chess.
"I see that look in your eyes. You must be the champion in your family," his Grandpa smiled. "Don't go easy on me."
"You better be ready to get beat then," Scarlett laughed and the old man laughed along with her.
Yanjun smiled seeing how well she got along with his family. She was already making her way into their hearts, but he knew she would. After all, she easily made her way into his.

Yanjun and Scarlett went for a walk early in the morning because Yanjun wanted to take her somewhere and also since they weren't really working out. The air was cooler than usual and there was a small breeze that blew past them.
"A little bird told me we've been dating for six months not two," Scarlett looked over at Yanjun. She watched as Yanjun's face turned pink, he tried to turn his face away to hide it, but she already saw. "I didn't realize you liked me for that long."
"I didn't either. I just started talking to my mom about you and she kept teasing me about you so she just called you my girlfriend. I thought I just saw you as a friend, but obviously you were a lot more than a friend," Yanjun spoke, not meeting her eyes. "To be honest, I didn't think that you would return the feeling so I was set on chasing you."
"That would've been a long time," Scarlett muttered, making Yanjun look to her so she explained. "I told you I didn't date. There's a couple reasons for that, but I didn't think that it would matter since everyone always seemed to use me."
"I wouldn't use you," Yanjun whispered, wrapping an arm around she shoulders before placing a kiss on her head.
The couple walked in a comfortable silence they made their way to their destination. Yanjun would whisper some cold jokes to Scarlett, earning looks from her, but she would sometimes laugh because of how bad they were.
Scarlett, however, grew silent when Yanjun led her to a cemetery. Her eyes wandered on each headstone they passed and she silently prayed for each one of them. Suddenly, they stopped at one with roses and carnations lying in front of it.
"Crimson, this is my dad. Dad, this is my girlfriend, Scarlett."
