"Xiulan..."
"Hmm," Scarlett looked up from her phone to see Andrew watching her, tapping his pen on the table. "Oh. Sorry, I'm just...texting my boyfriend. Sorry."
She knew what she was doing. She just didn't want him to get the wrong idea and have him think he had a chance with her.
"I hadn't realized you were in a relationship," the man cleared his throat as he sat straight in his chair. "Who's the lucky guy? If I may ask."
"Evan."
"Your assistant," the male raised a thick dark brow.
"He was a temporary one, but yes. Is that a problem," Scarlett asked whilst locking her phone and paying full attention.
"Of course not...but well I wouldn't put myself in such a thing with someone like him."
"What do you mean," Scarlett bit her tongue.
"Your father's company is being handed to you, is it not?" Scarlett nodded her head once. "Evan doesn't know how to run a company from what I know and have you struggled communicating with one another?"
He sounds like such a snob, Scarlett thought.
"Yes," she said, eyes flickering away to see Yanchen enter the room before looking back to Andrew who was still watching her.
"It will be difficult to keep a relationship, it's unrealistic. For instance, if I were be in a relationship like yours, to stay together I would have very little time for her and I would be holding her back from having a happy life. She'll always be alone while I'm at work and she may regret ever being with me. I'd keep her from what she could possibly have; a loving family of her own and a husband that would come home to her every night. It's selfish. It's like keeping a bird in a cage when the bird should be let go to fly free and be happy."
Scarlett laid on her stomach with the sheets from the bed were lazily wrapped around her body. They rested just where they needed to, leaving her free to move around, her hair was sprawled behind her as she watched Yanjun peacefully sleeping beside her.
Her lips still swollen from his kisses and the sensitive skin of Yanjun's neck was painted with her love.
Yanjun slept on his side with little space between the two of them, his hand rested on the small of her back once having traced the burn marks that were the letters HR. Yanjun had asked about it, but Scarlett distracted him so he soon forgot and fell asleep leaving her to watch over him.
Scarlett silently took in Yanjun's beauty and tried to remember every detail that made him him. She listened to the soft snores that left him and watched his chest rise and fall at a steady pace.
"I love you," she whispered and even though he wouldn't hear her, she meant it with all her heart.

Scarlett woke up first, again, she had to work and had to go to another meeting. She quietly got ready, hoping that Yanjun could get a little more sleep.
Scarlett dressed herself in a black laced camisole, a white matching dress suit and a pair of black pointed heels. Her hair was in natural waves and her makeup was light with the exception of part of her chest where she covered her marks from the night before. She wore a pair of rose gold diamond studs and a matching heart necklace that fell right between her collar bones.
When she entered the bedroom, Yanjun was sitting in bed, now wearing some sweats, but not a shirt.
"Good morning," Yanjun smiled upon seeing the girl.
"Good morning," she returned the smile and made her way over to him. He sat on the edge of the bed with his phone in his hand. She pressed a gentle kiss to his lips before asking, "do they hurt?"
"It's okay," he replied grasping her hand and placing small kisses on the tips of her fingers. "You must really like nicknames, huh?"
"Shut. Up," Scarlett smacked his arm, but laughed out of pure embarrassment.
"I like it," he wrapped his arms around her waist as she did the same with his neck.
"Only privately."
"I don't know. I'm sure the guys heard something last night," he whispered, placing a kiss on her lips.
"I'm not calling you that in public. It's already weird," she shook her head.
"Okay. Okay," he said, smiling down at her. "I wish you didn't have to go to work."
Scarlett's heart stung in her chest.
"Me too, but I'll see you tonight. I have a surprise," she said putting on a smile.
"More s-"
"I wasn't talking about that," she cut him off. "You'll have to wait for it though, just like everyone else."
"Oh, so the surprise isn't just for me?"
"Not this one," she chuckled seeing how he acted disappointed. "But we'll have our own fun tonight so you'll survive."
"I know. As long as I have you," he spoke, showing his dimples. "I love you."
"I love you, Yanjun."
