third person pov
A month had passed since the breakup and still, it hurt just as much as then. Scarlett left China the week of Yanjun's birthday, not wanting to ruin it in any way. However, he had hoped that she would stay and celebrate with them. Instead, she payed for their dinner, bought him some new white shoes, and sent him a short happy birthday text.
That was the only contact the ex couple ever made since the break up. Neither of them could put words together to have a decent conversation or couldn't speak without wanting to cry.
Justin still wasn't talking to Scarlett which wasn't too much of a surprise. Justin had always held his own during a fight, but it was different with Scarlett. Their fights never lasted this long.
"Yue Yue, please just take me straight home," Scarlett told her driver as she sat in the back of the expensive car after he picked her up.
"Yes, Miss Huang."
Scarlett looked down at her phone, a picture of her and Yanjun had still been her wallpaper. She couldn't bare to change it, she tried to, but she had changed it back. Scarlett bit down on her lips, twirling the necklace she wore everyday around her finger as she looked over Yanjun's smiling face.
It'll hurt less. It should, but when, she thought and locked her phone.
She wasn't exactly excited to go back home, but it had been the only place she felt really safe. It had also given her some kind of peace since she knew the boys were safe there, unharmed.
They didn't know Scarlett was returning home today, except Zhengting who kept checking in on her, but she didn't really care to tell anyone else. She didn't think it would matter since she wasn't staying long, she only came to turn in more work and get new school work. At this point, she thought she could've just took online courses, but Mr. Qui said she had to attend as many as she could.
It was stupid, but she didn't complain.
The car passed by the main residence and followed the way to the guest house. Scarlett looked out the window, the car was still a distance away.
A small smile spread onto her face, but left as soon as Scarlett saw two figures. One was unmistakable, he was tall with black hair wearing his go to outfit. A pair of black pants, a white t-shirt, a jean jacket, and a pair of white shoes. Yanjun.
The second figure was a girl. Yanjun had his hand in hers as he pulled open the front door of the house. A smile spread onto the girl's face, matching Yanjun's. Jieqiong.
The two hadn't noticed the car and went into the house, not looking back.
"Ms. Huang," Yue Yue said, stopping right in front of the house. She stared out the window in disbelief and heartbreak. If she wasn't sitting, she would've collapsed into a pile of mess. She didn't feel anything, but the pain her heart placed on her.
"I'm sorry...Just take me to the park down the street," Scarlett looked away from the house.
"Yes, Ma'am."

Scarlett sat on the swing set that only had two swings. When she was a kid, she sat on the right one while Justin sat in the left.
Her, Justin, Chengcheng, and Zhengting went to the park often when they were kids. Zhengting and her would take turns while Chengcheng took turns with Justin. The four of them would play super hero or house on the playgrounds.
Scarlett usually played mother or she would play the damsel in distress. Zhengting would be the superhero or father and Justin would play sidekick or baby. Chengcheng would be the villain or the older son.
They would all sleep in the small tunnel of the play ground or act like it was their super vehicle. They would also play hide and seek in the bushes and trees. Scarlett had always been the one they'd find last. She had a special hiding spot that she would stay in until the others were found then to make sure they never found it, she would sneak somewhere else.
They still hadn't known the spot till this day.
It was a secret, but definitely wasn't the biggest secret Scarlett kept.
