Kunlun Mountain Part 4 - The Return

Chapter 30 - The Aftermath

The Nine Pillars of Creation

Placing two fingers below her nostrils, Mo Yuan felt for her breath.  A enormous surge of relief rolled through his body as the faint wisp of air hit his skin.  She was still alive, but barely.  Reaching him Zhe Yan collapsed beside him, followed by Di Jun, Gaogui and Ye Hua.

Forcing them all back, Gaogui knew exactly what to do and he would not be stopped from taking her for the healing she needed.  Looking at his father briefly, their eyes met.  It was the first time father and son had been able to share a deeper knowing look, but the moment Gaoguis stare met his, Mo Yuan shook his head angrily.

"No.  You can't take her.  I won't allow it." he said forcing his son back and taking hold of her body.

"Father listen to me.  I can heal her, but not here.  This worlds Immortal energy has been damaged, and will take time to correct.  Mother needs healing now, I have to take her." he said forcefully, but gently taking Mo Yuans hands and forcing them off her body.  

"Then I am coming with you." he said leaving no room for argument, he was dead serious.  Mo Yuan had not fought forty five thousand years in the chaos to lose her now, and if he could help her with her healing, then he wanted to be there for it.

Gaogui clearly read this in his eyes without having to delve into his mind, something he would not do to his own father.  

But he could not allow him to come either.  "Father, the world needs you right now.  The damage is enormous, and there will be untold lives left to fend for themselves.  You are needed here.  I will take her back to the Orchid Valleys for healing and return to assist you." he said just as forcefully.

But Mo Yuan refused to listen, powerful son or not. 

 "Son." he said suddenly swallowing the word back.  It was the first time he had addressed him by name or relationship and it sounded strange, but surprisingly comforting.

"Son.  You were with me in the chaos, you know how difficult it was for me to return to her.  I cannot leave her, I need to be with her." he said as his arms once again enveloped her body to lift her up against him.

"Yes I was with you in the Chaos Father so I do know how hard you worked to return, but you do not know of the sacrifices she too made in order for you to return to her.  She would not want you to abandon the world and the thousands who will now look to you for assistance.  She would want you to protect them while she heals herself.  Mother, is a vain woman father, she would also not want you to see her at her weakest."

  Then taking a deep breath, he magically forced his mother out of Mo Yuans arms and into his own.  "Her elite cultivation is almost depleted, we cannot sit here arguing, she must go." he said forcing himself to his feet.  

"I will ensure she is safe, then I will return to assist you with the clean up." he said softly down at his fathers angry glare.  He had moved so fast, Mo Yuan was not fast enough to stop him.  No sooner was he on his feet, then both Gaogui and Bai Qian disappeared from view leaving Mo Yuan screaming in pain and agony.

Kunlun Mountain - One Month Later.

The enormous changes to Kunlun were just as devastating to Mo Yuan and his Disciples as the rest of their world.  Very little of the original landmarks and formations were left of the lower valleys and forests.  The wildlife that had once roamed free on Kunluns vast lands had all but been destroyed along with their habitat.  

Though much of the Mountain itself had suffered little damage, thanks in huge part to the divine energy that had immediately soared to astronomical heights in order to save itself.  In fact the Mountain itself had barely been touched, not even the pillars had been affected, thanks to his fathers immense energy he had used to open the Mystics ancient energy source when he had reopened the School.  And it was that energy, that had automatically condensed itself around the mountain to preserve it, while leaving the valleys and the surround mountain ranges to fate.
