"A Festival of Peaches." he said softly. Only the subtle change of movement in his eyes gave away the amusement as his monotone drone escaped him. Reclined on his cushioned platform, he eyed the boy suspiciously.
On his knees before him, Ye Hua nodded. "Yes Lord Di Jun. I believe the only way to put an end to the mayhem that seems to follow me everywhere I go, is a Festival to invite the worlds youth. I would like the opportunity to find my own wife." he said keeping his own voice soft, even though his nerves were stretched so tight, a big purple vein had popped behind his ear.
"And how do you propose to do that when we both know exactly how that will end?" he asked with the smallest of smiles.
Keeping his head down, Ye Hua suggested that he, along with his brother and sister in law invite the women while keeping the numbers low. "And with a good mix of young men, it shouldn't get out of hand." he replied.
But Di Jun was no fool. He knew he was up to something and knowing how a young mans mind worked, he also had a fair idea what it might be. Because not only had a vein popped on the boys neck but he was sweating and that alone gave him the impression that the boy was planning to deceive. As a child, whenever mischief was not too far from the fore, he would sweat.
For a long moment he said nothing as he watched the boy fidget uncomfortably under his intense stare. He was right of course, the only way to bring an end to the mayhem would be a Festival of some kind where only the very best would be invited and marrying was the only real solution to a problem that had been going on for far too long.
In fact, there were several young girls he knew of that had not yet met with Ye Hua and nor would they have been a part of the group who threw themselves at Kunlun Mountain or the Celestial gates. They were good girls, from good homes and with good morals. Suitable wives and that he was asking to select a wife for himself, said he was thinking ahead. For himself and the world which he was pleased with.
And as that thought took hold, his mind wandered briefly to Feng Jiu. He had not yet told her of the conversation he had had with Lanhua during the wedding, preferring to keep it close until the right moment presented itself.
Because of his commitment and exceptional dedication to the people during the harsh years that followed the destruction, Lanhua had gifted him one desire which fate could fulfil. And he had taken it without a second thought. Now looking down at the boy before him, he suddenly found himself acting in fates stead. What he said and whatever decisions he made at this moment, would no doubt steer the boy onto his fated path. But he also knew it was not for him to decide what was the best option or even answer, instead he allowed the boys suggestion to be his guiding force.
"Very well. Speak with your bother and report back to me at the end of the day." he replied which earned him a very heavy sigh of relief.
Inhaling deeply, Ye Hua smiled gratefully. "Yes Di Jun." he said bowing low before rising to his feet.
"I assume Gaogui will also be attending?" he asked.
"Yes. We will both be observing." he replied.
"Good, its about time that boy settled himself down too." he said before raising his hand to wave him away.
With a final bow, he quickly left Taichen Palace for Kunlun Mountain leaving Di Jun smiling softly to himself. Popping her head out from under the blanket that she had crawled under the moment Ye Hua arrived, Feng Jiu who was in her fox form, stared wide eyed at the doorway.
"Come here." he said softly with a small smile reserved solely for her, while he too watched the boy leave.
Immediately, she flew back into human form before returning to sit at his side.
