With the extension of the Mountain now completed, Mo Yuan and Gaogui worked alongside each other preparing the new ground for the foundation of the Grand Causeway, and now that he had his full energy back, the going was much easier. And Mo Yuan found his son the easiest pupil to teach than any of his Disciples. He only had to explain something once and he instantly grasped the information and nor did he forget it.
"It seems you have your mothers ability to retain information" Mo Yuan smiled at him.
Thinking back to the first time he had heard that, he smiled back. "Uncle Honghui said the same thing." he said as he moved to take his place on the land they would now level out.
Giving him a look he couldn't quite interpret, Mo Yuan suggested he pull out the third spell he had given him.
"This spell is similar to the second spell. With that one, you can move large objects from one place to another. However, with this spell you can manipulate large spaces to do what you want it to do. Here we are going to level out the land from this point...." he said marking out what would be the edge of the Grand Causeway, " To that point." he said throwing out a burst of energy that hit an area that would mark the front edge and what would also be the pathway that led to it.
"Now, the similarity between the two spells is you are going to use the same method you did to move the land here. But instead of lifting it, you going to compress it. So begin by pulling up your energy to your fingertips as you did last time, then with the same method as before, release the third spell as you slowly force the land to flatten out while drawing excess land towards yorself with the palms of your hand." Mo Yuan said as he gave one quick demonstration, before nodding at Gaogui to do the same.
With his energy built up in his fingertips which he could now do with ease, he slowly released it into the land along with the third spell. And as the land began to flatten out, he drew more dirt towards himself with the palms of his hands to add more to the layer he had just created.
"Good, now move along the edge as you work." he said as he watched his son use a magic so easily, he couldn't help but feel immense pride in a boy he was still getting to know.
Gaogui was a quiet boy, who did not normally speak unless spoken to or he had something worthwhile to say, so he was very much like his father in that respect. He was also just as calm in nature, so teaching him was too easy for Mo Yuan, that he spent hours thinking up ways to challenge the boy, but no matter what he threw at him, nothing seemed to phase him, and nor was anything too difficult for him to master. The three spells he had just taught him, had taken Mo Yuan weeks to master, that the pride that was welling up inside of him felt as if it were about to explode.
Inch by inch the extension began to flatten out. It was still much higher than the rest of the mountain but it would settle lower in a few days when they would come back to it to complete the next task, but in the meantime, Mo Yuan watched as his son utilized the spell to perfection. So seeing as there wasn't really a need for him to be there, he went in search of Bai Qian who he hadn't seen all day having started on their work at dawn.
Lunch was almost ready by the time he left, but heading for the other side of the mountain where Bai Qian and Zi Lan were busy clearing away the rubble from a fallen rock formation as part of their punishment Chang Shan had given them, he heard them before he saw them.
"Why do you always have to do everything the hard way?" Zi Lans voice travelled towards him.
"Rather than saying its harder, why not see it as more efficient, this way, second senior won't send us back to do it properly." her voice snapped back at him.
"But it's going to take all damn day. Just sweep it off the mountain and be done with it." he snapped back. "It's not as if it'll be noticed, the land everywhere is a mess anyway!"
