Since the beginning, at a time long forgotten, the Rock of Incarnations was formed by what was now know as the Orchid People. Created for their world, its sole purpose was to ensure the new souls to their Immortal lands maintained their high standards of chastity among themselves and the sanctity of soul union. This was governed by the laws of the Rock which very few people knew about and this was to ensure the people maintained their purity and virtue through decency and decorum until that time came for their souls to unite with the one they themselves had earned.
Much went into the pairing of souls which delved deeply into their character, mind sets and desires. But most of all, it took the full weight of their inner truth, that single component that gave the Immortal soul its right to exist through accumulated lifetimes, desires, triumphs, failures, heartbreak and loves.
The pairing was also eternal, in that the partnership of names was to be their final fated love, whether for good or not, it was what the soul had earned.
Though of course all things regarding the sanctity of the soul, carries a price should the Rock be viewed. Strict laws were put in place to guard the names, and no one had the right to view their intended. Every soul was weighed and judged, therefore, no imbalance could take place should one attempt to alter their course of their fate.
Though access was granted to the few who dared to ask and very few did. In fact, most could not, because it was bound by Universal Laws of Confidentiality . Only those who had the ability via magic or permission, could access it. However, should one view the Rock with the intention of altering what their soul had earned, then a calamity would ensue. Not only would their name be removed, a very high price would be paid.
For Di Jun, his price was centuries of Reverence and Acclaim. This ensured that he would be so far above them all, that no soul would be worthy of him. But with such high esteem, came the emptiness he was forced to carry. Loneliness was his penance. His heart was empty of all love and affection that others were afforded. It was the most basic of needs that fed a soul and kept it healthy, but for him he would be forever denied it.
For Di Jun, the loneliness became so heavy a burden, that at times he had wanted an end, to meet his final calamity and leave the world behind. In his mind, he saw no point to his existence, he saw nothing but centuries upon centuries of longing that he would never know, because he had unbalanced the scales for both of their souls.
Of course he had trained his emotions to forever remain behind the facade of indifference, but internally, he was a broken man. Half a man who had literally unbalanced himself for his own ego. Only he would ever know the hardships he faced, because he faced them alone.
That was, until she came along and tried to right his greatest mistake. Had she not cut off her tail to use on the Rock, it would never have opened for her. The magic of the Nine Foxes Tails, was able to create an artifact so powerful that it could grant access to any place in their world with just a thought. Her intention was to correct what she saw as an imbalance, and it was all it took for the Rock to present itself to her in order to show her what Di Jun had given in his stead.
The Price she had to pay for the privilege, was humiliation and rejection. And for years she endured it like him, alone.
And now here they were, standing before their fate and what he hoped was their shared Destiny. And as she stood there looking up at him, he explained the Rock, its history, its function, what he had done and what it meant for the both of them.
"Back then, I did not want to crowd my life with what I saw as frivolous things. My life then, was dedicated to the security of the Realms and marriage would only hinder my goals. So I came here fully understanding the consequences of opening its mysteries with only one intention. By opening the Rock, my name was automatically removed. But the one who shared my fate was also removed along with me and that person was you." he said bringing them back to the beginning and what should have been left alone.
