The World was celebrating. For three reasons.
The first being the return of Gaogui and Ye Hua along with their Ascension to High Gods. Their return brought two waves of intense feelings from their world. One was immense relief, especially from the worlds women who were thankful for their return which saw many of them pouncing on the celebrations in the same manner that saw them both sent for trial.
However, having undergone such a traumatic experience, neither men, which is what they now were, were ready for any kind of dalliance with any woman, not even Ruolin who in the end became the sister both boys had secretly yearned for. Their love for her was protective, defensive and in many ways possessive. Any man who dared to court this woman literally had to go through both men first. And likewise her. She loved them as brothers, and because they were both still in the same predicament as they were in before their trial, any woman who dared to harass or plague their lives with their constant stalking, paid the price. She was also a very protective girl who saw the men as her responsibility, seeing as she blamed herself for their trial.
The other was immense dislike from Yan Zhi, who blamed both boys for not only the war that saw even more of her people hurt, but also the continued harassment she received from the world leaders for not only her nieces actions which saw their daughters hurt, but also the because of the way they too had been interrogated over the boys disappearance. And though many understood their daughters had to also take some responsibility, it was far easier to blame the Ghost Queen of an already disliked Tribe for their lack of parenting skills than it was to upset their Princesses. It was unfair, but Bai Qian did her best to heal the rift by visiting her often while Zi Lan was forced to fight even harder for her, because for a while she saw him as her enemy too having watched him fight against her.
As for Mo Yuan, he saw no reason to offer apologies for bringing war to her people, not when he had done everything in his power to prevent it. She too refused to apologise for what she saw as justice for the harm his boys had brought to her Tribe, so for a long time neither leader found resolution or the ability to move on. In Yan Zhis eyes, he had attacked her because of what her father had done to the him personally and the wider world, which she thought to be even more unfair, because she felt she was still paying for her fathers sins, when he as a father was committing just a grave a mistake in his handling of his childs decisions while taking his anger out on her.
The second celebration was the marriage of two Disciples. The first being Gouzhi. Having found his family safe and well behind the giant ice wall the Mystics had erected to save his people, he had returned home for a while to mourn the death of his brother Liang with his family and to reconnect and heal. Eventually he returned to Kunlun Mountain and with his brothers at his side, he found peace in his loss and eventually they helped him to move on. And like Gaogui and Ye Hua before their trial, he found solace in women who he took great delight in.
He was finally pinned down by a beautiful young woman from the Fox Clan, one that had accompanied the wedding procession for Mo Yuan and Bai Qian. She was a delightful girl, of good breeding who had caught his attention that day, and in secret they had dated for a while, until the day came when his father insisted that he take a wife. Being the only son of his line, he would one day inherit his fathers lands so he needed an heir, but breaking away from tradition which should have seen his parents select a wife for him, he had instantly put her name forward.
Held in the South, it had been a beautiful wedding, which saw every world leader attend including Yan Zhi as well as Honghui who visited briefly. And not only did Mo Yuan and Bai Qian attend the wedding as his special guests, they paid for the entire event as their wedding gift to the happy couple.
