At every red light, Jungkook found the opportunity to beat the absolute heck out of his steering wheel, occasionally honking and pissing other drivers off. At every turn, his knuckled whitened due to his firm grip on the wheel as he accelerated the vehicle harshly.

Yanking the heavy door open, Jungkook stopped in his tracks, wondering where any normal set of parents would keep their confidential files handy. Your parents were far from normal if they chose not to share this information with their adoptive son, though.

The kitchen cabinets seemed to only harbour pots and pans, and there were no boxes of any kind in the living room next to it. The brunette darted upstairs and conducted a thorough search through all of the bedrooms, which didn't contain anything except for personal belongings.

He pulled his bangs harshly, hissing at the pain. Where could this damn thing be hiding?

Looking around, lost in his clouded brain, his eyes locked onto a square patch that had been indented in the ceiling. Since the rest of the ceiling didn't seem to have any of these same squares, he furrowed his brows while thinking of how he could possibly get up there.

Jungkook was tall in his class, but not as tall as the height of the hallway he was currently standing in. Since your room was the closest to him, he decided to do one cursory check to see if there was anything that could add to his height. He immediately eyed two textbooks.

Picking the books up and standing on them, he was at the point where his fingers could delicately brush against the hard surface above him. Not quite there yet.

Running to his room to see if he had anymore books, Jungkook lit up slightly when he realised that he did and fumbled with the items in his hand as he ran back to the designated spot.

Now, the stack of education tools was high enough for his hand to press against the ceiling, and a light panel rose up from the force of his palm beneath, revealing a dark square.

Jungkook had been living in this house for pretty much his entire life, but he never knew about this hidden attic that was above him. With fingers firmly gripping the edge of the newly made hole in the ceiling, the brunette allowed his feet to leave the ground and his arms to swoop over the cold wood that was now above him.

He can't give up now. He could see the dusty boxes waiting to be dived deep into to reveal the secrets that were probably decades of years old in the age department. The boy grunted as he used his core strength to haul his legs up to meet the floor.

Taking a few deep breaths while resting his head on the cool, dry surface, he clumsily pulled out his phone to shine a light on the dark shapes that were in front of him.

The first thing that shone under his phone light was little Benedict Bearington and his sister, Angelica, sitting next to each other while leaning against a box labeled "Films".

The bears that were your only companion throughout childhood other than each other. The bears that sparked your first non-family relationship. The bears that you would hug whenever you felt depressed and craved warmth.

Jungkook, now is not the time to be sappy about your past. Just find the flipping certificate, he thought to himself as the phone in his loose grip pointed to different directions and revealed different box labels, none of which seemed to be the category of birth certificates.

When his legs somewhat struggled to get him up, he eyed one box that was labeled "Jungkook".

He walked over to it, brushing his fingers over the dusty cardboard, leaving clean trails of where they had been just now. Slowly lifting the lid up, a few dusty folders were revealed, each of which had a decent amount of papers to fill them.

The folders weren't labeled, so he picked up the first one and skimmed through it, finding all sorts of adoption paperwork. Okay, the doctor was telling the truth. Now, he just had to know who his real parents were.

Putting the first folder aside, he grabbed the second one, and the item he was looking for was displayed straight in front of his eyes—

"Kookie! We're back from the hospital!"

Oh, poop.
