It was morning. Another day had started, another day of work. One death so far, and I had intentions to keep it that way. Obviously impossible, but I still preferred dying less.
"Ribbons?"
I shifted around in my bed, only to see Alice curled up beside me, hugging the rabbit doll I bought her. I entirely forgot she was sleeping beside me yesterday night...
"Alice? Time to wake up. We've got work to do, come on now."
A few nudges and a light poke to the face woke her up, and she opened her eyes. They were blue. Much more than before, and she had oddly shaped pupils. A heart on the left and a diamond on the right. She looked at me curiously, opening her mouth:
"Good Morning, Master."
She spoke...?
She spoke.
"You're.... speaking?"
"Yes! Or... did Master not want Alice to say anything?"
Huh... she refers to herself using her own name. Her personality took a 180 degree turn too... She calls you 'Master' differently too.
Kuro was right. Scarlet referred to me as "goshujin [ご主人] while Alice used the term "aruji [主]" instead. Though both translates to "Master" either way.
"No no, that's not what I meant. I'm just surprised you started speaking overnight."
"Master seems to have a lot of mana.... and Alice.... has an affinity towards this mana."
"Affinity...?"
"Mm-hm," she nodded. "Alice performs better with Master's mana."
"I see... anyway, let's have breakfast. We've got some work to do. Specifically me, but you should get the point."
She nodded and hopped off the bed, washing her face and teeth. Her ribbons were doing most of the work too... brushing her teeth, getting her clothes while putting away the worn set... interesting.
I had a quick breakfast and told mother I was heading out. Hina was a little sad I couldn't play with her, but I had to get to Amayasha's place. Fortunately, I didn't need to use a train or anything, she had set up Kuro's scroll as a waypoint between the guild and my room. Only Kuro, myself and anyone I bring along and Amayasha could go through. No one going through the portal will see Kuro's realm however. Had to give her props for her way with portals.
"Alice, step into this scroll. There's someone you need to meet."
She pointed at herself, tilting her head.
"Yes, you. Come on."
Passing through, Amayasha was already sitting behind her desk, waiting for us.
"Ah. You came, and with a new friend."
"Amayasha-sama, this is Alice. A puppet I met a few days ago. She's a Reverien, so she won't really understand what you say."
"I see. I assumed as much," she smiled, swapping to Reverien instantly, "Alice, was it?"
"Yes, you are...?"
Wait, what the hell?
Amayasha is older than the war, did you expect her to speak all the tongues?
