Before me was Claire, and to my side a man being dragged out of the area, probably unconscious. (not my problem anyway)
"Challenger?"
"You stepped into this ring, so we need to have a bout. Nothing to it," she drew her sword.
"I can't fight...," I quickly made an excuse, looking away.
I saw Faye in outside the window, giving me a thumbs up. I swear...
"Don't waste our time!" a man behind me shoved. "We're here for a fight!"
Alice twitched a little, she was notably angered. Best not let her go on a rampage in a place like this.
"Mister, I'd prefer if you didn't push women like that," Claire said. "Please mind yourself."
He back down, turning away.
"Can I not fight? I didn't mean to come into the ring you see...."
"Well, it'll be boring to see a one-sided match. Leave, we'll get someone else."
"T-Thanks...," I grabbed Alice and bolted aside with haste.
It wasn't a surprising choice that I chose to run. Even with a handicap, I wouldn't be able to fight Claire. I decided to observe her next few bouts from a good distance.
And the results were scary. Claire had no problem dealing with 5 people fighting her at once. I could only handle 3, and just barely. She wasn't called an elite for nothing...
Her abilities with a sword far outmatched what I could do, I kept note of what she could do, it might be useful for future reference.
"Master, Alice found someone."
"What?"
"That mana from earlier on, Alice can sense it. Alice doesn't like it."
"How close is he?"
"He's.... there!" she pointed. "The one with the green mask!"
I made my way towards him fast, noticing he had a gun in his hand. Just as I got to him, he pointed the gun towards the Prince. I kicked his hand, causing him to misfire, the bullet hitting the wall behind the Prince instead.
The entire crowd broke into chaos as they ran, I grabbed the man as he tried to run. While fighting against an elitist swordsman wasn't my thing, hand to hand combat was.
I blocked against several punches and ducked away from his kicks. He wasn't expecting a fight, I assumed.
He pulled out a knife, trying to stab me, but I quickly grappled him, twisting it out of him hands. I then lifted his arm over my head and swung him behind me, leaping as he came to my side to kick him in the face.
He fell to the ground hard, motionless. Must've knocked him out..
"See you in the morning," I sighed. "Ah," I turned around, only to see Claire, some other guards and the Prince stare at me.
"Not a fighter huh?" she eyed me.
"This doesn't mean I have to join the bout does it?"
She laughed. "Interesting sense of humour. What's your name?"
"Rai..falia...."
Bravo.
Shut up.
"Raifalia, is it? The Prince would like to speak with you."
"M-Me?!"
"Yes, my beauty. I must reward you for saving my life! Name your price, anything!"
