Stopping a war require more than just pulling strings and manpower. The most important resource in a war is never just weaponry, skilled units, proper commands or any of that.
It's information.
You can have the world's most powerful weapons at your arsenal, but not knowing what your enemies are capable of, or even who they are, is a recipe for failure.
Which was why, I was now doing something I have done before in Tendo. Reading. A library holds books and documents about generally everything. Of course, confidential information would have to wait till I could access any archives or whatever.
For now, I just had to get as much information as I could on basically everything.
And the process was... just as boring as it sounded. Alice was bad at reading anything long that wasn't in Tendoen, so Iona was the only help I had.
Iona started looking for any documents on the war she could find. But it was rather fruitless. As I suspected.
Anything useful like the cause of the war, past records of anything significant, weren't available. Even if there was, it certainly wasn't gonna be around in a place like this. All we could find were theories and conspiracies.
They was a bunch of random crap. Some logical, some absolutely stupid. Like gods using us as pawns, or this was a fight for some godly relic, world domination, show of power...
Utter bull.
At least there were logical ones.
Some claims saying that it was a sudden attack from Tendo... others Sylphia. But it was nothing more than finger pointing. Books in Tendo had the same claims about the other countries... As expected when the original cause of the war was lost.
Well... while I'm at it... might as well check out some other stuff.
"Master, what's this?" Alice handed me a book, a picture of a large robot printed on it.
"Ah. HEART units. A heavy armour war machine made in Machina. Basically stands for HEavy Armour Retaliation Tankers. Not something I'd want to fight head on."
"Sounds dangerous. Try not to fight them yourself, Alice."
"Hey!"
"Keep it down, you two. You're gonna annoy the others."
From what I could remember, HEART units were devastating opponents to face when it came to Tendoens. Sylphians could tear them down with magic, but they eventually had to face the anti-magic barriers. Gotta give Reveriens credit for how inventive they are.
There were a few variants that I could remember: the heavy variant, the escort variant and assault variant. All of which could kill me in a single hit. Probably very painfully. In which I may find out sooner or later.
I began trying to pick up as much information about them as I could. Specifically their strengths and weaknesses. There wasn't a lot of info on what they were weak against, other than the common weakness. They all had to pause to release heat from the units. This would expose their cooling system.
Destroying that would force the pilot out, since no cooling would cause overheating, and boom.
Getting the information relevant to what I needed was going to be difficult. I probably had to make a trip to Machina just to get all the info I need. Guess I had have a discussion or two with Seth and the others.
But I needed more help. Neither one of us three were capable of any stealth based abilities. Iona could only enhance her weapon while Alice had her ribbons. If I wanted to infiltrate places, being unseen was important.
