"Oh, you're awake! Are you feeling alright?"

"W-Wha...? Where... Where am I?"

I was in a thatch bed, a small fire in the distance.

"This is my home," a girl smiled at me. "How are you feeling?"

My vision was a blur, there was a bandage over my eye and arm...

"My head hurts...."

"Ah... you suffered from a concussion, and you lost some blood. You had frostbite in your right arm... and your eye was damaged from the cold too."

"How did I... Kuro!! Where's my-"

"Your friend? She's over there. Nothing serious happened to her, since she's a spirit. I'm more worried about you."

"Who are you?"

"Freyja Unfroid. I'm a Puppet living around here as a medic."

"Where is this?"

"An abandoned shrine. I'm staying here for the time being to pass the winter. More importantly, I'll need to check on you for the next few days, so please, stay here for now. This snow storm isn't going to stop anytime soon, and you're in no condition to go anywhere."

"Right... how long till I'm healed?"

"I'm not sure. Oh yes, I must add. I used my own skin to replace the damaged parts of yours, specifically on your face and arm. That should heal a little faster. I am unable to heal your eye, however... I only know of medicine, so I know no magic."

"It's fine, I just- ghk!" I winced. I was trying to get up, but there was a sharp pain in my waist.

"You mustn't walk around yet! You're still wounded!"

"Sorry..." I sat back down. "Speaking of which... how did you find me?"

"I was looking for herbs when I found you."

"In a blizzard?"

"The snow doesn't affect me," she smiled, busy grinding something in a mortar. "I'll make some tea for you, it should help soothe your nerves. It's just some flower tea, so it won't be bitter."

"Thanks..."

She got up and left the room. I looked around, and saw an array of different herbs and flowers, and notes lying around everywhere.... There were even some poisonous herbs....

She isn't planning to kill me... is she?

She came back a few minutes later, two cups in her hands.

"Here, made them with some snowdrops."

"Snowdrops...?"

"It's a flower, helps ease your pain."

"It's.... sweet."

"I added a little sugar," she said, taking a sip from her cup.

She then got up to pick up some herbs, coming back towards me.

"Are you making medicine...?"

"Yes. It's a little different from what you can find, but it works well," she nodded, and was about to put a poisonous flower in her mouth.

"Wait!!"

"Hm?" she started chewing on the flower. "Something wrong?"

"T-That flower...."

"Oh, the winter wisp. It's bitter as always," she shuddered, spitting it into a bowl.

"Isn't it poisonous?"
