Chapter 41: Fallen

As the bomb went off, chaos rose in the city. People were running off everywhere while Mary's magic destroyed more and more of the church.

It was honestly terrifying. Seeing all those spells being set off simultaneously was just... terrifying. I was on the receiving end of some of those spells, but seeing them first hand was something else. She wasn't even drawing from my mana yet... which told me one thing:

She had a large mana pool to begin with. A trait rarely seen in Puppets. Probably explains how she manages to use so many spells in quick succession.

Either way, I didn't have much time to stand around. I had to bail myself before I got killed in the crossfire. Grabbing Scarlet, I quickly got her to follow me into Mary's pocket dimension.

Upon entering, I found Alice and Iona were handling the orphans along with Claire and Ruira. I also felt the massive mana pull from all the Puppets around. With all of them being scared, they were drawing more mana than usual... couldn't blame them.

First things first, we had to calm down the Puppets. If even one went Berserk, it would cause some serious problems... Ruira was doing a great job keeping everyone calm with her singing. The rest were just helping her out.

As they handled everyone, I went outside to check on the damage. And by the gods, Mary was still going-

Wait.... Raibo, her eyes....

They're... dark red? Weren't they supposed to be-

She went Berserk?!

No, wait... she's in control. She's using my mana. It just looks like she's... enjoying this.

It was hard to picture it, but Mary was actually taking her sweet time to blow the church to bits, knowing no one could take her down. Until the army arrived. Several HEART units were brought along to take down the threat, but no one really expected it to be Mary. And Mary? Really wasn't giving a damn.

"Sister.... Mary...?"

Unlike me, who would get taken out by a single hit from one of those machines, Mary had magic. Far more powerful than any machine, hell, their entire army. And now with Claire on our side, there was nothing they could do to stop us.

I didn't even have to do anything. Mary just levitated off the ground. Her cape was floating in a majestic yet terrifying manner.

Her magic circles appearing everywhere, and blasting them away. A mix of explosions, split earth and blasts from all directions left what was the machines in nothing but pieces.

The soldiers backed away in fear.

"Come forward, all those who desire my judgement. Fear me should you have sinned, for I bring the wrath of god. All of you who sully his name with your false deeds. I shall judge all."

She is speaking very oddly.

Well she is in a Berserk state. If anything, I'd say there's some divine intervention.

What?

Basically, she literally has the power of a god in her. You wouldn't want to mess with her.

You don't need to remind me....

The soldiers all turned tail and ran. As soon as no one was left, Mary floated back down to the ground. She walked towards me as her eyes flared red. Her it was then I caught a glimpse of her right eye. The pupil of that eye resembled a cross.
