Nothing made me happier than getting Claire as an ally in a single try. I didn't have to die at all!

I celebrated the thought in my head, trying to hide my excitement. I was worried about her lying, of course. I couldn't tell without Kuro being physically here with me. All she could do was talk with me.

"Great. Now Claire, I want you to tell me, when is there the least security in this place? If we move at that time, we should be able to sneak past the guards."

"You were only charged of theft, so the security here isn't as tight. There aren't even a lot of people here. You just need to escape during midnight, the guards on this section have been lazy anyways."

"Great."

"Regarding Alice.... how are you going to get her back?"

"What time is it?"

"Evening, should be 6."

"Go find the prince, without actually meeting him, and find out where he's keeping Alice. During midnight, we'll go there. Until then, pretend to do your duties and don't let anyone in on this. I'll get things ready on my end."

"How? You're in a cell."

"You could get me a key. Or I could do something else. Depends on when you wanna be known being on my side," I laughed.

"Fine. I'll come back at midnight, good luck."

She left the area. I couldn't hear anyone from the outside... Where exactly was I...?

Ah well. Time to bring someone back.

"Scarlet?"

"Yes, Master," she appeared beside me. "I have brought your sword. And your clothes to change into."

"Thanks," I started changing.

"I do enjoy looking at you dressed like that," she giggled. "It suits you."

"Yeah yeah... don't expect to see much of it."

"Oh well. Also, Master, mind I ask you not to call Fenrir into a small space? He doesn't like cramped spaces."

"Oh, sorry. I'll keep that in mind. You should hurry on back for now, I'll call for you if things go wrong."

"Yes, Master."

She too left.

Missed me?

Kinda. I certainly missed having you on my side.

Oho~ Growing clingy to me?

Ah shut it.

Sheathing Kuro to my side, I put on the rest of my clothes. The voice candy's effects were going to wear out soon, so Claire was going to be in for a little surprise. This was basically my failsafe. As long as they couldn't prove its me, I'd be free. Claire would be able to tell it was me using my mana, no one else. Except maybe the prince and Alice.

All in all, things were going according to plan. I discussed what happened between Claire and I to Kuro. She was amused, but also somewhat cautious of her at the same time. Which was logical, she agreed pretty fast, so Kuro was worried of a potential double cross. But until she could see her for real, she wouldn't be able to tell.

I had to admit, having a liable way to be able to tell if someone lies is becoming something I was getting used to. Better not end up taking advantage of it.

A few hours later, my voice eventually returned to normal, to my joy. And when midnight came, the doors opened to a couple of guards. Didn't seem right...
