"So explain to me, why are we in the attic?"
"Well, for one, I'm waiting for someone."
"Who?"
"Alice's sister. We need her help to mask our voices when we go in."
"Wait... how prepared are you?"
"More or less for everything."
"You are scary."
"Just wait for a bit. She'll show up sooner or la-"
"Gack!" Ruira suddenly popped up beside us, falling face first onto the ground.
"Kya!!"
"Don't scream!"
"It's okay... I've been masking the sounds ever since I got here.... no one can hear us. That said, Raito, please tell Mary to control her teleportation a little better..."
"Mary?"
"Who's this lass?"
"Right. Introductions. Ruira, this is Claire An'en. Our inside man for now. Claire, this is Ruira Auditore, Alice's older sister. And as for your question, Mary is actually helping me."
"Eh?"
"You didn't fill her in?"
"I didn't get the chance."
"Ah well, now. How to we go about rescuing my sister?"
"Oh. She's actually beneath us."
"Well that's makes life easier. Are we ready?"
"Yeah. We're all good," I nodded.
"I'm ready to go myself."
"Good," she stood up. "Knock knock~!" she punched the downwards, tearing entire ceiling down, us falling along with her.
We landed on the ground, Ruira catching me in her arms. (I wasn't going to survive the drop)
"What the-?! Who- Guards!! Guards!!"
"Master?! Master!!" Alice voiced happily, leaping into my arms.
"Oh don't worry, no one can hear you from the outside. Shout all you want."
"Claire! What are you standing there for?! Get rid of them! Bring her back to me!"
"Why?"
"Because she's supposed to be mine! And you're supposed to be my guard!"
"Really? So why did you steal her from her master? And why did you assign me to watch the prison?"
"Stop questioning me and do as I say!!"
Claire stayed silent, then grinned.
"And if I don't? Is there anything you can do to me? Are you going to send your guards for me? Did you forget I outrank everyone in your Royal Guard? Or that I can fight over a 100 men at once?"
"Did something happen between those two...?" Ruira whispered.
"Kinda. Didn't Mary tell you?"
"Nope, she told me to ask you."
"Oh. I'll uh... explain later."
The prince was obviously scared. He had no one to help him, since no one could hear us from the outside.
"I'm gonna give you a chance, beg for my forgiveness, and I can let you off," he threatened, but to Claire, who had no reason to fear him...
"Why should I? You don't even appreciate me. I work all day long to make you satisfied, and you never even thank me, even though you told me that I was all you ever needed. Some promise that was. You never stopped thinking about Alice after the day you met her, and then you forcefully make her yours, completely forgetting me afterwards... Do you have any idea how that feels?!"
