•Cameron's POV•
"M-my father?" I stutter out.

"What do you mean?" Sierra says as she walks closer to the bed.

"I'll let you guys talk in private." Shawn says.

I grab his arm before he leaves.

"No. You're family. You should be here." I tell him.

He nods and takes a seat in one of the chairs. My mother sighs deeply.

"I can't believe it's time to say this but. . .kids, your father never died." She tells us.

"What!" Sierra whispers/yells.

"That day that your father died, he didn't. He faked his death." She explains.

"Why would he do that?" Sierra asks.

"I don't want you to think it's because of you guys. It's not. He loved you guys to death. He would kill for you guys. He faked his death so that he could lay low." She says.

"Lay low for what?" Sierra asks.

"He had said that there was this big crime boss that was after him and his family. He wanted him dead and he didn't care who got in the way. Not even his family. So, in order for him to not kill us, he 'died'." She tells us.

"Why didn't he tell my dad?" Shawn asks as he stands up and walks towards us.

"He knew that your father wasn't gonna be able to stop them. Back then, that crime boss was the biggest of them all. He killed almost everyone who did him wrong. Around that time, Manuel and Dan were barely starting to get business with the death angels. They didn't have all the stuff they needed. They really struggled back then. He didn't have enough protection. Now, he told me the plan and I told him not to do it. I thought he had let it go. 1 day, he called while on a job and told me that if anything were to happen, that he loved me and you guys. I knew something was wrong and when I got the call from Manuel, I broke down." She tells us.

"I remember that day. We were in the living just hanging out when you got the call from dad. When you came back, you were a little uneasy. A few hours later, you got another call. You started to break down. You dropped the phone and fell to the ground. I told Cam to go to his room and I went to comfort you. But that doesn't explain how you know that dad is still alive." She tells her.

"When we went to the hospital, I went to go see him alone. When I went in, I saw him sitting up. I was shocked but he explained to me what he was doing and of course I was mad but he told me that he would come back. The only way he would tell me he was back was if. . .he shot me in the shoulder." She tells us.

"That's fucking stupid! Why would he shoot you!" Sierra yells.

"Shh. It's something that happened between me and your dad. The point is, your father is coming back." She says.

This whole time I haven't spoken but I've been trying to process all of this.

"Cameron?" My mom says as she tries to grab my hand.

I pull back and walk out of the room. I go to the elevator press the lobby and the doors were about to close when someone stops it. The doors open and Shawn walks in. He stands next to me and the doors close and the elevator starts going down. It's quiet.

"You can talk to me, you know." He speaks up.

The elevator doors open and we both step out. We walk outside and I'm about to go to Shawn's car, when he stops me.

"Let's go for a walk." He tells me.

I nod. We start walking. No words are spoken. I just can't stop thinking about it.

My dad faked his death to save his family. He had a lot of time to come back but until now he wants to.

"I know you probably feel like your dad abandoned you but, from what your mom said, he was only trying to protect you." He says.

We make it to a park and we sit on a bench. I watch as the little kids play around, smiles on their faces.

"He left us." I blurt.

"Cam. . ."

"No! He left us!" I yell.

A few people turn to us and stare. They saw Shawn and immediately looked away.

"He could've taken us with him. Faked all of our deaths. He could've stayed and tried to fight this guy. He could've done anything to stay with us but he didn't. Instead, he caused me pain. He caused Sierra to leave and he caused my mom to raise me alone. There was no longer a man in the house so I decided to be the man. I decided to dedicate my life to my mom and the gang." I say.

"Think about it though. If he didn't pass, you wouldn't be what you are today. You're a sweet guy with a loving girlfriend and a wonderful family. If he didn't pass, me and you wouldn't have been as close as we are today." He says.

"Yea you're right. Maybe I wouldn't have everything that I have today. All I want is to have grown up with a father. A person that I could talk to about things that I can't talk to with anyone else. I wish he would've given me the parent talks that they give. The one about girls or puberty." I say as I laugh a little.

"Yea. That would've been good. That would've been hilarious." He says as he laughs a little.

I look over at the courts and see little kids playing basketball.

"I wish he could've been there for my games, plays and science fairs. I wish he could've been there for all of those and now that I learn that he was alive this whole time and he could've gone to all those things, it. . ."

"Angers you?" He finishes.

I nod.

"All those years are down the drain. I just feel like I wasn't important to him." I say.

"Oh but Cameron, you are important to me." A man behind us speaks up.

We both jump and turn to see who it is. Our eyes go wide.

"Dad?"
