"Thank you, come again."
Y/N awkwardly smiled at the cashier and then turned to leave the store. She looked back to make sure Connor was following her, and he was. His face was neutral and nothing seemed to be bothering him, which was good.
Maybe he's coming up with some devilish plan to kill me and escape, Y/N smiled with amusement. Not like he'll be able to.
Once they both exited the store, Y/N turned to look at Connor. She flashed him a little smile, which Connor responded to with a confused expression.
"Is something wrong?" he asked.
"Why would there be?" Y/N said.
"It's out of the ordinary for you to smile at me like that," Connor informed her. He moved his gaze away, his new hazel eyes sparking with an emotion she couldn't read.
Y/N's smile dwindled, but she kept it on her face. This time, it was just a bit awkward.
"Can I not smile at you?" Y/N asked him with a tiny challenging tone.
"You can," Connor muttered out, his eyes didn't meet Y/N's. Connor's voice remained monotonous and cold, but yet Y/N could sense something was up. "Its just that there's no reason for you to smile like that at me."
"I'm smiling cause..." Y/N made her smile into a grin. "Cause you're behaving."
"I'm behaving?" Connor raised a brow and finally looked her straight in the eye.
Y/N couldn't help but let out a giggle. She got closer to him and wrapped her arm around his. With a playful grin, she winked up at him, "Yeah you're doing a great job, Connor."
Connor didn't respond, but he kept his hazel eyes on her. Y/N was surprised to see his lips twitch and his brows furrow just slightly, as if he was holding some sort of emotion back.
"I'm...glad," Connor murmured.
"You should be," Y/N smiled.
She let go of his arm, but once she did so, she could've sworn that she felt him fight her for leaving. His arm locked tighter around hers once he felt her arm slipping out of his grasp.
Swallowing, Y/N was confused whether this was intentional or unintentional. She stood by his side and walked quietly, her hands gripping hardly at the bag with the materials needed to fix the power in her house and other things too.
"Are you hungry?" Connor asked out of the blue. Y/N turned to look at him.
"Kind of," Y/N told him.
"We can go get something to eat," Connor suggested.
"We? You mean I can go get something to eat," Y/N smiled jokingly.
"Of course," Connor blinked at her. His eyes sparking with something. Y/N's smile unintentionally grew bigger at seeing that spark in his eyes. It was a nice contrast to not having any spark at all.
"But, of course, it would be nice to have some company," Y/N laughed softly and nervously once she realised she was staring for too long.
"Connor?" Y/N called for him.
He didn't respond. He kept his eyes glued on the floor. Until he swivelled around and walked away from her.
