"If you would keep your hand still, this wouldn't hurt as much and I wouldn't have to grab it this way."

Connor swallowed heavily as the stinging pain returned once Y/N wrapped a cloth, damp with cold water around his burn.

Pain wasn't really welcomed by Connor, but it wasn't rejected either. He still hadn't grown accustomed to it and he seemed to be regretting letting Y/N put the sensors on him, yet he didn't want to stop it. This was a new sensation that he wanted to get used to. Without these sensors, Connor felt as if he was just empty.

"I told you not to touch the handle of that pan without a cloth or something!" Y/N huffed irritably, she pressed the damp cloth against Connor's burn. "I told you that you were going to get burnt, look what just happened."

"I didn't remember that I had the sensors on," Connor explained nonchalantly. A snort escaped Y/N's lips as he said that and Connor looked up at her.

"You didn't remember you had the sensors on? Really? Didn't you feel anything when handling the pan? Or even the heat coming from the stove?" Y/N lifted a brow and flashed him an unimpressed glance. Her grip around his injured hand relaxed. "Be more careful next time. I don't want you hurt."

"I'm alright," Connor told her.
"You're burnt," Y/N grumbled.

Connor looked at her, his eyes flashed a bit playfully, "Did you enjoy the food at least?"

"The food-Why are you asking me this when you just burnt yourself?" Y/N questioned him with confusion. But her lips betrayed a small smile, which soon grew into an amused grin. "Of course I enjoyed the food, you doofus. But you got yourself burnt in the process, I certainly didn't enjoy that."

SOFTWARE INSTABILITY

Connor tried to hide back a wince once Y/N pressed the cold cloth against his skin just a bit stronger, "It's not as bad as it seems."

"It's not as bad as it seems," Y/N repeated what he said with a high-pitched mocking tone and Connor fought back a smile. She looked silly yet quite adorable when she did that.

"I know what a burn feels like Connor, they're not fun," Y/N told him with an unimpressed tone. "But...I can tell you what's worse than this."

"What's worse?" Connor tilted his head, eager to know.

Y/N leaned in and smiled mischievously. "A paper cut," she whispered that out in such a forced intimidating way that Connor could interpret that as the start of a scary campfire story.

"Paper cuts are that bad?" Connor blinked, he didn't imagine that they would be that painful. He's seen a few people get them of course. One of which was Lieutenant Anderson, who would get paper cuts when going through files and once he did get a cut, he would become a storm of pure profanity.

It was entertaining to watch but it couldn't be as entertaining to feel.

"Yes, they're the absolute worst," Y/N said as she kept the cloth on Connor's hand. "It may be debatable though. Some people might find stubbing their toe worse than a paper cut."

Connor gave her a silent nod and just continued to watch how she treated his burn. Sure, he knew all of the precautions that she had to take, the techniques to treat it properly, he could've just done it himself, but he didn't want to stop her.  The way that Y/N's hands held Connor's felt nice and...comforting.

"Does it still hurt?" Y/N asked him gently, allowing the comforting feeling get even better.

"No," Connor replied honestly. It truly didn't hurt now. Whether it was because he was distracted with the feeling of  Y/N's hand or whether it really was because it got treated, Connor didn't know.
