It’s Friday now, the last day of school for the week, and the start of a new month. It’s March and it’s still freezing over here. I thought it’s supposed to get warmer around this time of year.

Last night, we ordered Chinese and I just spent the night with my parents. It’s the type of thing that I’d absolutely dread doing but considering I haven’t known them for a month, it’s been nice to have a quick ‘catch up’ with them.

I make my way to the shop to walk with Lois and Jack to school. I’m kind of early considering I got up at half six for some unknown reason. I’ll probably have to wait five minutes or so for them to come.

Yep, I’m correct. No one’s here so I take Jack’s place where he usually waits for me on the railing, and wait for Lois and Jack to turn up.

Five minutes of scrolling through Twitter on my phone went pretty fast and before I know it, Lois turns up with her mouth wide open in shock.

“Why are you so early?” she gasps. “I’m used to waiting for you for ten minutes!”

“I woke up dead early” I laugh and she shakes her head in surprise. “Is Jack usually early?” I ask as she jumps up on the railing to sit next to me.

“Yeah, we usually turn up a minute after each other or something” she shrugs. “He’ll be here any moment”

“Okay” I shiver from the cold. I check my phone to see its 8am already. This is usually when I set off so I’m sure Jack should be here by now. He must just be running late.

After talking to Lois about the situation with Conor and stuff, Jack finally turns up, ten minutes late with a huge scowl on his face.

“Oh my god, what took you so-“ Lois stops midsentence. I see Conor walk around the corner, following Jack, literally making my jaw drop.

“Jack, what the hell?” I frown in confusion.

“Don’t even ask” he shakes his head in anger, joining me and Lois. We all stare at Conor in confusion as he makes his way over. This is not happening. This is why I should be late every morning.

“What? It’s rude to stare” Conor smirks as soon as he joins us.

“Why are you here?” Lois says exactly what I’m thinking.

“We usually walk to school together” he frowns in confusion, smirking at me then looking away. I’m speechless.

“Yeah, until you fucked off with Zac” she snaps back. I almost laugh but I need to be serious right now.

“Aw come on, Lois. What happened to being best mates?” he opens his arms, expecting her to hug him.

“Fuck off, Conor” she rolls her eyes, jumping off the railing I’m still sat on. I’m just staring at Conor in shock right now. I can’t bring myself to tear my eyes away. That’s until he notices me staring.

“Lucy” he frowns. I quickly turn away and join Lois who I can tell is debating whether to just walk to school and leave Conor here. I blink away the few tears forming and look at Lois. She looks back at me with a sympathetic look but I can tell she’s angry at Conor.

“Why are doing what you’re doing?” Lois sighs, turning to Conor.

“What do you mean?” he gives her a bored look. He’s changed so much in this past month or so, it’s unreal.

“Well, you’re a prick for one” she frowns in confusion at why he’s asking what she’s talking about.

He chuckles, “Yeah, and why’s that?”
