Chapter 71

There’s something about love that makes it vulnerable among the other feelings.

It requires both trust and understanding which may soon create a hurdle of confusion, leading to false impressions or misconceptions.

Humans become blind when these emotions are abused, and this blindness offers nothing but gullibility.

In the end, it’s we who decide to be foolish.

For the name of love.

Maybe, it’s the lack of consciousness that escorts us to our own demise. We mistake those superficial emotions for another kind of deep affection that we always crave. We never learn to realize that everything is summoned by us. It almost sounds farcical to know that playing the fool isn’t encoded in our DNA, yet we victimize ourselves like it’s normal.

As if it’s something done by the nature.

Like it’s just a natural occurrence.

And we can’t go against such process.

Humigpit ang pagyapos sa akin ni Matteo. He kept murmuring sweet nothings into my ear. This is why I don’t like hearing promises.

Empty words are so much easier to handle for I already know the precision that lies within the confines of them.

“You’ve missed me that much, huh?” malambing niyang bulong sa aking tainga.

Matteo stiffened as soon as he heard my quiet sobs, but he didn’t say anything after that.

He held me in his arms tightly.

“I don’t even want to see you right now,” pag-amin ko sa namamaos na tinig.

“No, babe,” Matteo admonished. Iniharap niya ako sa kanya. His tantalizing eyes were still the most expressive of all. His mesmerizing gaze held mine for long.

My lips quivered slightly, and his eyes followed the small movement.

“Akin iyon, Jergen,” he whispered softly, his knuckles caressing my damp cheek in a soothing manner. “Akin ang mali,” mas marahan niyang sinabi.

I let out a shaky breath. “Are you mad?” tanong ko sa maliit na boses.

“Hmmm?” “May rason ba para magalit ako?” he said huskily.

Kinagat ko ang aking labi.

Matteo’s eyes darkened with passion. He gently touched my lower lip. “Don’t cry, mia bella. I hate seeing you cry.” Umiling siya.

Umiwas ako ng tingin.

Matteo lowered his head down, pressing a soft kiss to the side of my head. “Did you clean up?”

Matteo’s wearing a simple gray hugging t-shirt and a dark pair of rugged jeans.
