Chapter 11 - the early morning

"Clem, Y/N wake up"

Anna and joe where both stood over you. You cover your face in embarrassment and clem hides her head in your chest.

"Ok we'll leave," as the two walk out the room. "You need to get ready we are heading out soon," they shut the door and once again it's just the two of you.

As you try to get up clem holds onto your shirt.

"Clem what are you doing,"

"Don't leave"

"Why?"

"You are so warm," she says with mischievous smile.

As you turn your back to her she wraps her arms around your neck and her legs around your waste.

"What are you doing clem,"

"If you're not coming back then I'm coming with you,"

"I take it your not a morning person,"

"Well it's the first sleep that I've had in about a year that I've felt safe and warm,"

You walk out into the hallway with her still on your back and grab your coat wrapping it round her. You walk her back to the bed and she sits down. She plays with the gray fur on the inside of the black hoodie.

"Are you ok now princess," you says sarcastically. She blushes and her eyes widen. She is clearly flushed you had called her princess.

"Yeah, sorry." She replies

"It's ok clem,"

You pack what little belongings you got which are mainly just big water bottles so you can carry as much clean water as possible so you don't have to clean as much on the road. It weighs a ton but after lugging a 3.5 kilogram axe about from the age of 8 you have become a little muscular and can carry a lot on your back.

You go to grab something from the sofa downstairs. The others are in the kitchen and you go and retrieve the item.

Everyone exchanges gifts on the 2 days we are back and we all draw from a hat at the beginning. Anna had got you and got you a holster for you axe. She found it at a fire station at an old town around checkpoint x. You got jade and got her a necklace you had made out of a broken bow string and a bullet. She loved it and hasn't taken it off.

You grab the dark leather holster and jog back upstairs. You walk into your room and clem is sat on the bed looking at an old sheet of paper. As you walk in she hides it in your coat pocket.

"What was that,"

"Nothing," she says sharply in a high pitched voice.

"Clem you can tell me anything,"

She hesitates and slowly pulls out a torn price of paper. It was the photograph of Lee she got at the drug store she got in Macon.

"Oh clem," you say giving her a big hug. The girl clutches you tightly.

"I miss him so much Y/N," she says as she lets go.

I know you do clem, I know you do,"
You say resting your chin on the top of her head as she reaches in for another hug.

"We should go downstairs before they set off without us,"

"Where is my stuff,"

You give her her backpack and hat as she gives you a smile.

You both walk downstairs into the kitchen. Everyone looks at you and quickly looks away clearly trying hard not to make remarks.

"Ok just say what you want to say," you announce as you sit down at the table and drink a cup of water.
