Just to let you know I might change the story in little bits to make it more interesting.

You step into the library where Clem was. You find her near the back as she is trying to jump for something on a shelf.

You: you struggling there?

She looks at you and turns bright red.

Clem: yeah I can't reach that book up there. Can you get it for me?

You: I could reach it for you or I could do this.

Clem: what are you talking abo- wooooooah!

You lift her up on your shoulders. She starts giggling.

Clem: I don't feel safe up here!

You: what if I did this?

You start walking around and Clem begins laughing.

Clem: stop! I feel like I'm going to fall!

She laughs so hard she snorts by accident. This make you both start laughing.

Clem: let me just grab the book!

You: ok, ok.

You walk over to the shelf as she keeps chuckling as she grabs the book.

You: what do you even need that book for?

Clem: I was going to read it to the boys when they wake up.

You drop her down off you shoulders and she smiles.

You: what is it?

Clem: the tale of Peter rabbit.

You: oh, ok. Why that one?

Clem: my mom used to read it to me.

You think about your dad for second. You look at the p section. You flick through the books.

Clem: what book are you looking for?

You find it and pull it out.

You: they have it?!

Clem: have what?

You: when you mentioned your mom reading that to you I remember what my dad would read to me every night when he was home.

Clem: when he was home?

You: did I never tell you what his job was?

Clem: not that I can remember.

You: oh. He was a marine. He was hardly ever home but when he was we would spend our time together going camping, skipping school to go to the coast to find old fossil patterns in the middle of rocks and reading this.

You show her the book.

Clem: puff the magic dragon?

You: yep. Well I say read but your meant to sing it. I know it off by heart. I can even play it on my guitar.

Clem: I would like to listen to you play it.

You: another time maybe.

Clem looks a little disappointed.

You: I'll be honest I've had dreams were I can hear my dad singing it.

You look down at the cover and the dust covering it. You see a drop of water hit the cover and realise it was one of your tears.

Clem: Y/N? Are you crying?

You: no it's hay fever.

Clem places a hand on her hip.
