Chapter 28 - back to normal?

Sorry for missing a upload I had a really bad headache and had to go to sleep before I could finish it. Sorry again.

It's been a day since your return and you had slept through most of it.

You are laying on the bed as the doctor stitches up your open wounds and restitching them.

Clem sits on a wooden chair with her arms in her lap. She is staring at you open chest. Worry fills her eyes and face as you wince in pain as the needle is pushed into your chest.

You reach out your hand and hold hers, smiling at her. This makes her blush and sweetly smile back.

Clem: are you sure he will be alright.

Doctor: there is some trauma to the ribs and jaw. The cut will heal up but he should avoid lifting, stretching, any quick movements or...

Clem: or what?

The doctor gives clementine a look.

Doctor: or any pressure or weight on his torso and and other areas such as the pelvis.

Clementine turns bright red and shifts her eyes between you, the doctor and the floor.

Doctor: now I'm not saying you would but you never know with a reunited couple.

Clem seems to embarrassed to say anything as she pulls her hand away from yours and places it back on her lap.

You: thank you doctor.

The doctor stands up and begins to walk out.

Doctor: you need anything just ask. God knows your body has had enough and sorry for making an awkward situation.

You: it's ok.

The doctor walks out and slowly shuts the door.

You look over at Clem who is sitting there in absolute silence. You reach out to her but she flinches and moves away.

You: clementine?

She looks away at the wall.

You: what's wrong?

Clem: is that what the people here think of me?

You: what? No. She gives that speech to everyone. There are a lot of couples in this group and in this apocalypse people commonly get split and get a bit... over excited. Then she has to deal with another injury. Nobody thinks that about you.

Clem turns around and holds your hand.

Clem: I'm sorry I was just thinking about what lee would think.

You: I'm sure he'd be happy you're happy.

Clem smiles at you and pulls her hand away.

Clem: I'm going to go downstairs for a bit.

She walks out the room shutting the door behind her leaving you to some peace and quiet.

You try to get to sleep but now you are awake you just can't and lay there is silence. You hear thunder in the distance.

You stand to see large clouds on the horizon and a long, bright strike across the sky like a crack on a screen. A loud thunderclap follows a few seconds later echo across the land like a lions roar intimidating the people and animals but drawing the walkers. You assume that's how hordes are formed. The loud noise over a large area drawing the walkers. That and gang fights. They produce a large amount of noise.

Anna walks in holding a crying jack as he reaches his arms for you.

You: hey buddy.

You pick him off Anna.
