The two of you sit and talk for what feels like an eternity but it was fun.

Clem: so, while you were alone where was the craziest place you've ever been?

You: this is an easy question for me. New York City.

Clem's eyes widen as you say this, looking at you like you had gone insane. You laugh at the face she is pulling.

You: wasn't the best holiday I ever had.

She begins to laugh as well.

Clem: why would you ever go there? It was probably a hell hole.

You: it was a hell hole. I went there because I was told you were there.

She raises an eyebrow looking slightly unimpressed.

Clem: why would I go to a city after what happened in savannah...

You: I hadn't slept in a week, scout had lost the trail, I found someone who said he saw you and he said you were going there and I was willing to go anywhere to find you.

Her facial expression changes to a one of happiness and she smiles at you, making you feel warm.

You both keep smiling but you sense it's becoming awkward. Her face is lit up by the flickering light of the candle.

You look at the flame. The burning wick reminds you of the trees lighting up like torches. People's screams fill your ears as you remember them running in fear from the falling rubble. There blood curdling screams freak you out reminding you of what you did. They fear the deep rumble in the earth from the explosion.

An explosion you caused...

You feel shame and your face shows it. Clem takes note of this and climbs over to your side of the fort.

You snap out of it as she kisses your cheek.

Clem: what are you thinking about?

You: just... past decisions... past mistakes.

Clem: you want to talk about them?

You: not really.

You both remain silent and she lays against you, resting her head on your shoulder.

You: so where was the craziest place you went to while I was gone?

Clem: I don't know. We spent most of our time in the forests. Probably this small town. Lewis took us there.

You: why?

Clem: it was where his mom and Dad lived before the outbreak. There was quite a lot of walkers there at the time of our arrival.

You: I'd never want to go back to my old house.

Clem: I liked my house.

You: so did I but after my mum and dad's death I could never face it.

You both sit and ponder.

You: this first date is off to a cracking start.

You both begin to laugh at the awkwardness of the whole situation.

Clem: well every subject that we bring up, seems to have bad memories tied to it. It's like we will never be able to enjoy a moment.

You: yeah.

The two of you sit watching the flame slowly eat away at the tall wax.

Clem: I'll never forget the day I met you. When you walk through those gates I was scared of you. You were so covered in blood and scarred I thought you where dangerous.
