Chapter 41 - family

You wake to feel shuffling around you the whispers of the others.

Clem: shhh you'll wake him up. Let him sleep. He's been through a lot lately.

Jack: but I want to show him something.

Clem: he'll be up soon.

AJ: we made him something.

They all clamber out of the fort, leaving you alone. You hear the door open and close.

You climb out of the blankets and come to your feet. You turn to see Clem sat there putting her boots on.

You: morning babe.

Clem: babe? That's new.

She blushes slightly as she speaks. You see the chance to start teasing.

You: do you like it?

Clem: ...no.

You: you did, didn't you?

Clem: you're so annoying.

She smiles at you as you do the same back.

You: but you love me for it.

She stands up and kisses you on the cheek.

Clem: yes I do.

She smiles and walks over to the desk.

Clem: if your going to tease me, I think I'm allowed to ask you about this. What's so special about this drawing?

She holds out the image of the white tree with the blood red leaves you had drawn based on your dream.

You grab it off her.

You: it just looked good.

You attempt to lie but she see straight through you. You don't want to tell her because it is embarrassing.

You: it was just something from a dream.

Clem: you have many dreams and nightmares. What was so special about this one?

You: if I tell you, you'll think I've gone mad.

Clem: from the things you and Lewis get up to in your free time I already think your a bit unhinged.

She says as she laughs a bit.

Clem: just tell me. I won't judge.

You: well I dreamt about that tree but it wasn't just that. Anna was there. I had this dream about 3 days before I found you. I always get them when I'm going into a dangerous situation, in need of advice or just depressed.

She looks at you like she understands.

You: she's sort of a coping mechanism for me. I don't know weather she is just my imagination or it's really her. You think I'm crazy don't you?

Clem: no. To be honest with you I've had the same dream but with lee. I always end up on that train we were on, on the way to savannah. You know the one duck died on.

You: yeah I know the one. Wasn't many other trains I've been on.

Clem: he always knows what is going on with my life and he always has the right advice.

You: well it's lee so of course he has the right advice.

Clem: yeah...

She looks upset so you give her a hug as she smiles again. She presses her ear to your chest and then pulls away.

Clem: I'll see you later ok.

You: bye babe.

You decided to take one last jab at her before she leaves. She blushes and shakes her head.
