Chapter 34 - building trust

You step out of the barn and begin to walk to the big house at the end of the street like Clementine had told you to after your... "reunion,"

You turn to scout as you don't want the group using him.

You: you need to leave boy you know what happened last time we where in a group that was scared of you.

You run your fingers along the huge scar on his back that is hidden by fur. It's a cut that curves from his right shoulder to the right side of his stomach. The fur doesn't grow back in that point but it is mainly covered.

You stroke his ears by wrapping your hands around them and moving them up. You stand up and pat his back as he turns and runs into the field.

Lewis: he's much bigger.

You: yeah. He getting harder and harder to feed. He's always stood by me. We look after each other. He follows my scent and if he hears danger, smells my blood or hears my call him he comes running. I return that favour by fixing his injuries, feeding him what and when I can and make sure he is ok. We both keep each other company.

Lewis: has he passed me on the best friends list?

Lewis says this half joking and as you pause he looks a little upset.

You: no I'd say you are on par with each other. It's unfair to give it to one of you because he's a wolf who I've spent most my nights with and your an actual person I can talk to.

Lewis: your shocking you man.

You: well if you ever get a pet and it's just the two of you for 2 years come back to me and then tell me how you feel.

Lewis: fair enough. I've got to do my job. I'll see you in a bit alright?

You: yeah.

You begin to walk over to the big house as you hear footsteps behind you.

Rhys: are you going to go and see the leader.

You: yes but I probably won't kill this one.

Rhys: I thought he was a good guy alright.

You: whatever you say. All I know is he is a grade A cunt from go fuck yourself ville.

Rhys: I didn't realise people hated him this much.

You begin to walk on the porch of the large blue farm house. Your boots thud on the strong wooden planks. You open the door as an arm stops you.

???: what do you think you're doing.

You: going to see the boss like I was told to do.

???: ok just head up the stairs. My names Sofia.

She is about the same age as you and has long blonde hair tucked into a bun. She has big blue eyes that look you up and down. She suddenly turns red and begins to fidget as you look at her facial features. You realise you are staring.

You: ok thank you Sofia.

She giggles and leans against the door frame smiling up at you.

What is going on?

Sofia: no problem.

You walk in the house and look at the pictures layering the walls. There is dust carpet under your feet. As you step big clouds of it are kicked up into the air.

You see some large stairs leading to the second floor. You make your way up them as you spot a woman in knee high leather boots, a checkered shirt, a short denim jacket, some jeans and a cowboy hat stood against a door and looks furious. She is tapping her foot and as she spots you she darts over.
