Chapter 58 - and we're back

You, Clem and James are walking through the woods towards the school. You are carrying jack who keeps on phasing in and out of consciousness because the stitches are keeping the wound closed well. Clem carries AJ who is pale and weak but is still awake.

James: you're both tired. I can carry one for you.

Clem: no it's fine.

James: ok. We are close.

You are more tired then usual even though you only stayed up one night. You walk with your eyes closed for a second.

Clem: Y/N open your eyes. Remember last time you walked like that?

You: yes I remember but we don't have any uptight pussies here so I should be alright.

You still open your eyes and Clem laughs for a second but the moment is short lived when AJ starts coughing and she goes back to being worried.

You can see the peak of the school above the trees.

You: what if they turn us away?

Clem: then we might have to try and use fire to shut the wounds and if that doesn't work...

You: they've got to accept us. They're are good people right?

James: I'm sure they will.

You: come and join us.

James: I'm not ready for people yet.

You just nod at him. You reach the gate and spot willy on watch.

Willy: walker!

He shoots an arrow at James feet.

Willy: shit. Clem.

He disappears and Louis appears at the door. He doesn't look happy with you.

Clem's legs cave and you try to help but you hands are full. Louis runs out and grabs AJ he helps Clem to her feet. You follow him, dragging your feet.

Ruby runs over.

Ruby: oh no. What happened.

Clem: we'll explain later. Please just help us.

Mitch: no I want an explanation now.

Ruby takes jack of you.

You: you know what Mitch-

Clem grabs you hand and tugs on it.

You: ok I'm coming.

You walk off leaving Mitch and you all walk upstairs. Ruby lays AJ on the couch and starts tending to him.

You: if you give me some stuff I can help jack.

Ruby hands you stitches, bandages and disinfectant.

You take jack to the end of the hall on a chair an you see Clem whispering to AJ. You hear something about pushing through and being strong.

You pull off jacks shirt and begin taking out the stitches. You then close it again. You begin putting some disinfectant on a piece of cloth and dab it on the wound.

Jack wriggles in pain.

You: shhhh shhhhhh.

You say stroking his hair. You then bandage over the wound.

As you stick a safety pin in the bandages, to keep them in place, jack wraps his hand round you finger.

Jack: I'm so cold.

You take off your jacket and wrap him in it.

Jack: I'm scared.

You don't reply you pick him up and sit in the chair you hold him, as he sits on your lap. You rock him gently from side to side.
