Chapter 135 - the past

Clem POV

Violet: but do you think it was a good idea?

It's the next morning since Y/N came charging through with a new kid. Luckily this one isn't your full responsibility like usually.

Beth has started to make a recovery and is on a few medications that ruby spent a while organising so the kid doesn't OD. her group are still no shows but Y/N is adamant they'll come.

Clem: honestly, yeah.

Violet: really?

Clem: yeah it was a tough situation and he made a judgement call. And to be honest this'll probably have the best outcome.

Violet: I've gotta say clem, as much as I think he's normally are really smart dude, this wasn't one of his finer moments. We are down a lot of drugs now that this kid needs them. What if one of the boys get sick and we don't have the stuff.

Clem: well we couldn't let that kid die just because of precautions. But I agree that they can't stay. We don't have the supplies to support another 4. We had to cut Daren loose so they'll get the same treatment.

Violet: we don't know these people.

Clem: exactly. Look there are thousands of ways this could have gone. If Y/N had left them they might have robbed our supplies in the night to save the kid or attack us for letting the kid die.

Violet: they wouldn't have known we were here.

Clem: as soon as they saw Y/N our cover was blown. Apparently they asked for supplies and he had nothing but a can of food and water. So they would have known there was a base in the area. And it's not hard to track a horse.

Violet: fine. But now they know we are here what stops them from ratting on us to another group. Like a group of raiders.

Clem: which is why we should be in their good books when they leave. Less likely to tell a group of raiders where a big group with supplies are if we saved their kid where as they might be talkative if we abandoned them without a second thought.

Violet: I suppose you're right. But I'm not the only one who thinks it was a bad call.

Clem: I know. And so does Y/N. He can tell when people don't support him.

Violet: it's not that I don't support him it's just not how I would have played it. And I'm not going to pretend like I've got the experience that you and Y/N have I just thought my opinion would be a good devil's advocate. 

Clem: yeah I understand vi. And I'm glad you want to have some input rather than keep it to yourself. But there's a reason me and Y/N make these decisions and why normally Erin and Finley agree with us. Because it's probably happened to us before at some point.

Violet: I know. I've gotta go to the fishing hut with Erin.

Clem: ok I guess I'll see you when you get back.

Violet: yeah. Hopefully someone's here to claim that kid by then.

Clem: hopefully otherwise we are stuck with another hungry mouth to feed.

Violet smiles and goes for the door.

Violet: see you later clem.

You silently nod and violet leaves, shutting the door behind her.

You sigh and run your hand through your hair.

The groups in a bad state. Physically it's fine except Aasim and Louis now and Louis is out of his arm sling but he still can't us it.
