You: well you've got a pretty solid defence to start with, with this big ass train here. No one is moving that or getting through it in a heartbeat as long as we remove the ladders on the actual containers from the other side.

You say to Daren.

It's been a few days since you came back. You've spent the past few days doing repairs around the school again because people still won't let you go hunting.

The school is about back up the full strength except aasim who is still resting and Louis who is incapable of using one arm without a huge surge of pain rushing through his body. You're a bit slower but nothing noticeable.

Clem had worked on a few upgrade plans for the walls to reinforce them and make the school more protected in general. And she wants to reinforce the gates so it doesn't fall again and walkers can't see through it so completely cover it in wood. That was just one of many ideas but we all seemed to agree that darens family needed some sort of defence.

So today you, Finley, clem and Marlon walked across to try and help them build a small wall. Jack and AJ came along too just because they were bored.

Clem: yeah he's right. Finley go and start taking some of the ladders off of the other sides. They should be rusting and broken but if one or two are still intact just leave them because we'll need tools to take them off.

Finley: on it.

Finley walks off round the side of the freight train.

You: boys climb up on top of the train and keep a lookout on Finley for us so he doesn't get snuck up on by a walker.

AJ: sounds good.

He says as they run up to a half broken ladder which Marlon helps them up onto. They reach the top and sit in the top of the train.

Clem: you'll need to build some sort of wall here.

She points at the walk way down the side of the train.

Clem: obviously that's not going to happen very quickly and will be a couple month thing. We'll help out when we've got free time just because we want to make this whole area safer. You can build it out of pretty much anything but you'll need a way in and out and unless you can find a working door that you can just take and put in your wall you'll need something one wheels.

Kian: like what?

Clem: well ummmmm... we used big rubbish bin back at the motel, right Y/N.

You: yeah big and heavy so they couldn't move easily. Obviously if it's something on wheels you'll need some sort of stopper to make sure walkers can't just push it out of the way. Could be anything from a locking system like pad locks or just a big chunk of wood to put under the wheel.

Daren: this all sounds great we just need the resources.

Clem: well you'll need something to stop people just hopping the fence or train. We've got spare barbed wire we haven't used which runs all across the top of our walls which will have to go over the top of the wall and on top of the train but that's not to hard but you'll need to build the wall first.

You: we've got some scrap wood we could lend but not much. We were thinking about next time we do one of our supply runs with the horses we'll take our trailer and try and find some old wood at like a department store that's actually planks and not bits of chopped up table so if you send someone with us to come looking you can have some. And we were going to try and bring back tires because we are going to try and fix that car near the fishing hut. Could be useful.

Daren nods in approval.

You: Anyway I'd say chop up anything you don't use like tables and chairs and try and find some sort of wood, zip ties, nails, super glue, or anything that keeps stuff together. Then once you've got the wood foundation for the extra protection you could try and take some of those doors of the train compartments that don't help the wall and nail them to the front which will increase the stability loads.
