You open you eyes and they begin to focus on the nearest object. That nearest object was Clem's face.

She is still asleep. So are the boys.

To be honest you might be the only one up in the school because it's still dark out but with a hint of orange so dawn is approaching.

You lay back and look at the metal bars of the top bunk. There is no mattress but there is a mattress on the top bunk of the other one. Jack is sleeping on it with AJ on the bottom one. The metal bars have a few hints of rust but are still in pretty good condition considering the rest of the metal in the world is either fully rusty, stuck to a roof or belongs to a group.

The wallpaper is pealing off revealing the wooden boards underneath. The whole room has become grey and the walls are Barron, not including AJs and tenns pictures. The wood has lost its colour and was clearly cheap even before the whole end of the world business. If it was high quality wood it would still be in decent shape and not splintering.

But you don't dislike the old wood and the tattered wallpaper as it gives the room character and a history. The wood actually reminds you off your room back in the lodge...

You miss that place.

No matter where you go that lodge is your real home even if it is just a pile of ash. That was the only place you could actually be a kid. Before you were to young to do anything but couldn't enjoy yourself. While looking for Clem you had to feed yourself and stay alive so there was no time for luxury. The farm was never long term so even if you tried to enjoy yourself deep down you knew it would never work out. And being stuck in that car you could only worry about keeping the boys alive. In every single one of those situations you had problems and the hall gang breathing down your neck. Once you got the car they lost interest but you don't know how long they will be gone for. All you can do is hope they just fully give up but that's never going to happen. They chased you for 4 years.

You've been thinking a while and now the sky is a reddish colour as it seeps through the metal bars and covers spots of the room.

You slowly begin to climb out of the bed so Clem doesn't wake up. God knows she needs her sleep after all that driving. You grab you belt and fasten it around your jeans. Then you grab you axe and your knife. You put your boots on and put your switchblade in one.

Just before you leave you grab your cap which was resting next to Clem's. On the way out you pick up lewis' guitar. You've become very attached to the instrument.

You open the door and gently shut it so you don't disturb anyone.

You slowly sneak down the hall just incase people are still asleep in the neighbouring rooms.

As you step into the courtyard you notice the flag. Well you say flag but it's just a t-shirt with the ericson logo on it.

The couches look tattered and destroyed but they are outside so it's understandable. The walls are strong and tall which is good. Clem told you not to get your hopes up but you can't help it. This place might be the one. A place you don't need to worry about the next meal, a place where the boys can act their age, a place you and clem can get a normal relationship instead of saving each other's lives every 2 minutes. But the main thing you've always been looking for.

A place you don't have to kill people.

It gets easier physically to do it because you become better at it but mentally you feel that you are losing yourself and you don't know how long it is until your mind snaps and you turn insane.

But that's not for a while. You look at the fire and notice the pile of firewood next to the cooking station. It's a sorry amount of wood and you are surrounded by woods.
