"Calum I'm sorry this happened..." was all I could manage to get out. I rested my head on Calum's shoulder. "Wasn't your fault." Calum was hurting. I could hear it in his voice. "Why don't you stay at my place tonight?" Calum nodded his head in agreement, and of course I asked Mali if she wanted to come with. She politely declined and called her girlfriend instead, and insisted she stay with her tonight.
We got home well after midnight and we made our way upstairs. Calum and I showered and made our way into bed. "Did you manage to eat today?" Calum asked looking at me intently. I shook my head no, "My appetite hasn't been existent today Cal." He held onto my waist and stroked he with his thumb. "Why's that?" Calum rested his head over mine, while my head lay pressed into his chest. I shrugged my shoulders, after everything that happened today, I just felt off. "How are you feeling?" I needed to know how Calum was holding up after all of this.
"I'm not...angry or sad or anything. I don't know this is just something I expected I guess. I'm not surprised really. I mean, I warned Mali about her for a reason..." Calum finished with his opinion on all of this. "I'm just glad neither of you two are hurt." now he was finished. I used to think a lot about what was going on in Calum's mind, but now he's very open about what he shared with me. It's nothing like before, where I had to pry everything out of him.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I pulled back to look at Calum, and all he could do was nod his head. "That stuff can be replaced, but other than that it is what it is I guess." I laid my head back down, and Calum pulled me close to him. We kissed each other goodnight, and finished with our 'I love you's.
The next morning I called Mali, but I got no response. I really hope she's doing okay. Calum was still asleep, so I made my way to the bathroom and back. I wasn't feeling like breakfast, or anything at all actually. "You left me." Calum shuffled under the covers and slowly sat himself up. "How did you sleep?" I asked while uncovering him. "I slept okay, did you?" Calum bobbed his head from side to side. I nodded my head, and proceeded to yawn some more. "I was thinking Cal, maybe today we should change the locks, and file a claim with insurance..."
He slowly nodded his head, "Yeah, you're probably right." We got dressed and ready for the day, and made our way to the hardware store. However based on the pictures I took, it looks like more than just locks needed replacing. Since the door was kicked in, the wood on the frame was busted, and that had to be fixed too. Calum looked for a service that could fix it, and we called. The entire thing would be fixed that day, and upgraded, so it wouldn't be so easy to kick in next time.
One of us had to be there, so we went together for when the repair team showed up. Calum I don't think really accepted what happened last night, because he was once again in shock when we arrived. Seeing the mess that was left behind had to have stirred up a lot of old emotions for him. "Cal, you okay?" Calum nodded his head, but he stayed silent. He grabbed a beer from the fridge and instantly started drinking that. "I know this isn't easy for you, but you can tell me anything." Calum nodded his head in silence. Nothing more, nothing less.
