Chapter 18~We're good

{Joe's POV}

Me and Macklynn head downstairs to see Dianne and Eponiné. When we got down there. Macklynn hid behind my leg. She didn't want to confront Dianne.
J-"Macklynn's staying"
D-"What"
J-"She's not going to the foster placement"
E-"Your not"
Macklynn shook her head but stayed behind my leg. She tugged at my top so I would be at her height level and she whispered.
M-"I think I should go, she's not ok with me staying"
Dianne overheard and ran over to me and Macklynn. She crouched down and said desperately.
D-"Oh Macklynn, of course, I want you to stay, I was just shocked that Joe had managed to convince you"
Macklynn jumped into Dianne's arms and Dianne spun her around. Eponiné ran up to me so I picked her up so she was at the same level as Macklynn. With my spare arm, I wrapped it around Dianne's waist. Dianne looked at me and smiled. I always dreamt of having a family like this, I mean I had no idea it would come so soon but I'm happy it did because I've never been so happy in my life.
D-"We all need to get a move on because we're already late for school"
J-"I say we don't go"
M-"I agree with Joe"
D-"I don't care if you agree with Joe you're going to school and so are you, Joe"
J-"Sorry mum"
Macklynn and Eponiné laughed. Dianne gave me a stern look. I just made a silly face which made Macklynn and Eponiné laugh even more. Dianne shook her head whilst laughing and walked off.
J-"Come on we all need to get properly ready we can't go in our pyjamas"
M-"That would not be a good look"
Macklynn ran upstairs and brushed her teeth, collected her bags then came back downstairs with a brush in her hand.
M-"D please can you do my hair"
D-"Yeah hold on"
Dianne walked back in with a bright smile on her face as per usual.
E-"Mummy can Joey help me get ready"
D-"Urmm"
J-"Yeah, let's go"
Dianne pecked my lips and whispered "thanks" I picked Eponiné up and went upstairs.
J-"So what do we do first"
E-"I need to brush my teeth"
J-"Go on then"
E-"I can't do it by myself silly, I'm too young"
J-"Oh no you're kidding me right"
E-"Nope"
Eponiné took my hand and led me to the bathroom and handed me the toothbrush and the toothpaste. I started to brush her teeth and the toothpaste was going everywhere which made her laugh but then even more spilt. This is definitely easier when they're asleep.
J-"This isn't going well"
E-" You're doing well to say it's one of the first times you've done it"
J-"Spit"
We finished brushing her teeth and went to get her changed. I held up a few outfits which just made her laugh.
J-"What's up with these"
E-"They don't match silly"
J-"Oh... what do you wanna wear then"
Eponiné went and picked up the outfit that was already placed on her bed.
J-"Right that's why that was there"
Eponiné laughed. Oops. She was finally ready so she headed downstairs. I quickly got ready then followed soon after. As soon as I got downstairs I was handed about a million bags and was running to the car.
J-"Woah slow down"
M-"We're late"
J-"What"
D-"We're really late"
J-"I thought we were late ages ago"
D-"We were but now we're hours late"
J-"Oh"
Dianne drove quickly to Macklynn's school and dropped her off we then drove quickly to Eponiné's school.
E-"I don't wanna go"
D-"Eponiné you have to"
E-"No"
J-"What if we walk you in"
Eponiné slowly nodded her head. Dianne, Eponiné and I got out of the car. Eponiné held both of our hands. She almost looked scared.
J-"Eponiné what's up"
E-"I wanna go home"
D-"Why you normally love going to school"
E-"I know"
D-"Then what's up"
E-"What if Joe's not here after school"
D-"What do you mean"
E-"What if he doesn't come back"
J-"Eponiné of course I'm coming back and that's a promise"
E-"Promise"
J-"Promise, now come on you need to get to school"
Eponiné took mine and Dianne's hand again and we walked her in. She ran off to her friends she looked back a gave us a big wave.
D-"Ok we really need to get to school"
J-"You haven't been there in days why do you care now"
D-"Because I haven't been there in days"
J-"Arr I see your point"

{Dianne's POV}

We got in the car and quickly drove to school when we got there break was about to finish so we walked to our friends and stood with them.
D-"Something's changed"
J-"Yeah why are my friends with your friends"
D-"I have no clue"
J-"Hey guys"
Emily-"Omg you're back"
D-"Yeah"
Maddie-"You both seem confused"
J-"Why are you all together"
Byron-"Oh we're all sort of one big friendship group now"
D-"I wasn't even gone for 3 days and you couldn't resist the boys"
Toff-"Well by the looks of it you couldn't either"
I looked at Joe who had his hand around my waist and smiled.
D-"Well when they look like Joe it's hard to resist," I said sarcastically.
D-"But none of the others looks like Joe"
Jack-"No we're better looking"
We all laughed.
J-"Where's Josh"
Oil-"Oh sorry mate he went with urmm-"
Conor-"Caspar"
Oil-"Yeah"
J-"Alright ok that's fine"
Joe wrapped his arm around me tighter and gave me a reassuring smile. The bell went for the end of the break and we all headed up to maths. On the way there I heard girls snickering which made me uncomfortable, Joe noticed and pulled me closer to him.
Ambar-"Ohh look who it is"
Amelia-"Aww she came back"
Vanessa-"What's that on her face"
Ambar-"Oh I don't know whatever it is it's ugly"
Evie-"Wait a minute it's her normal face"
They all laughed in unison. They were the big bullies of the school they always had been and probably always would be. They normally didn't bother me but as soon as they see weakness in someone they pounce.
J-"Don't listen to them"
I nodded and Joe kissed me on the cheek. We quickly got into maths and we were doing Circle Theorems. Oh my, I'm already awful at basic maths let alone this. Me and Joe had missed a few lessons so everyone already had seats so we got put at the back. At least we were sat together.
D-"Urggg I hate maths"
J-"Hates a very strong word"
D-"And it's the right one to describe my feeling towards maths" Joe just laughed.
Maths teacher= Miss Ryh
Miss Ryh-"Is something funny about circle theorems Joe"
J-"Urmm no miss"
I whispered to Joe.
D-"You idiot"
We both just laughed, quietly this time. The lesson was boring as per usual but it went quicker with Joe by my side. This year might not actually be that bad.
