Chapter 32~Duets

{Joe's POV}

As we got to music we took our seats and waited patiently for the lesson to start. Normally I would become bored if we had to wait a few minutes for the lesson to start but ever since Dianne has walked into my life boredom has become a distant memory. Mr Light walked in and one by one people performed. Some performed solos others performed duets and others performed trios. It was finally Dianne and I's time to perform. We sat on the stools and both picked up a guitar and began to play.

Mr L-"That was beautiful well done"
J & D-"Thanks"
Mr L-"I've never heard that song before who originally sang it"
D-"They didn't Joe wrote it"
Mr L-"You wrote that Joe"
J-"Yeah"
Mr L-"You have talent Boy, real talent"

Mr L walked to the front, on his way he patted me on the back. The bell went for the end of the lesson and everyone left.

Mr L-"Joe, Dianne Wait"
D-"Huh"
J-"Yeah"
Mr-"I just wanted to say that was amazing and Joe you really do have talent"
J-"Dianne should be the one you're praising, if it wasn't for her I would of never of sang this song"
Mr L-"Well thank you both of you, you're both very talented"
J & D-"Thank you"
Mr L-"See ya later you two"
D-"See ya"
J-"Bye"

Dianne and I walked out and went to break.

M-"Hey guys, you ready to dance today"
D-"Yeah"

Oh, sh*t. Okay, the nerves are definitely kicking in. I could feel my head starting to go dizzy, my legs were turning into jelly. I suddenly felt arms wrap around my waist just as I thought I was going to fall.

D-"Hey it's okay, I've got you"
J-"Thank you that would have been embarrassing"
D-"Come on let's skip break"
J-"Okay"

Dianne led me into the dance studio that we had been rehearsing in all week and sat me down. My back was resting against the wall, I lent my head back against the wall in frustration. Why did I panic? Dianne came and sat next to me, she grabbed my hand.

D-"You ok"
J-"Yeah... no, I'm not"
D-"What's wrong"
J-"I don't even know
D-"Well I have a feeling that it might be about the dance because as soon as Maddie mentioned it you went all funny"
J-"Yeah I think it is"
D-"What about the dance is worrying you"
J-"What if I drop you"
D-"Then you drop me, but you haven't dropped me once in rehearsals"
J-"Yeah, What if I forget the dance on stage"
D-"Then you make up a random dance"
J-"Ok, what if people make fun of me"
D-"Why would they make fun of you this dance is amazing and I bet half, in fact, most of the people in this school couldn't dance as you do"
J-"You think"
D-"Yeah I do"
J-"Thank you"
D-"You're welcome you know Theodore Roosevelt once said believe you can and you're halfway there and that's what you need to do"
J-"..."
D-"I believe in you and you should believe in yourself because you're amazing"
J-"I love you"
D-"I love you too"
J-"We should get ready then do a run through of the number"
D-"Okay Let's go"

Dianne and I got ready then did a quick run through of the number. The judges had now arrived and the seats were filling up. Miss Darnza ran over to me and Dianne.

Miss D-"You guys have got this"
D-"Yeah"
Miss D-"The highest score in the UK so far is 94"
J-"Ok"
Miss D-"Remember you need to get over 85 to get through to the next round"
J-"Yeah"
D-"Don't worry we've got this"
Miss D-"Okay good luck"
D & J-"Thanks"

Miss Darnza walked off very nervous and agitated.

J-"How are you so confident and calm"
D-"Someone's got to be"
J-"Yes someone in the audience, not the people performing"
D-"Calm down, positive attracts positive"
J-"Where have you got all these quotes and sayings from"
D-"I don't know suppose I'm just an inspirational person at heart"
J-"Don't be sarcastic because you are very inspirational"
D-"Okay"
