Joanne ~ Back in time

Chapter 1~The beginning

{Dianne's POV}

Summer break was over and it was Monday morning once again. Our social worker had come to collect Macklynn and Eponiné to take them back to their foster parents house. When they left, the house felt cold and empty. I felt cold and empty without them. I had spent most of my childhood looking after Macklynn, so when Eponiné was born looking after her came naturally. As the girls left it was a rush to get ready. Thankfully the school didn't have uniform. So we were allowed to be our own unique selves. The school was different to most it had more flexible hours and subjects. Of course you have to do the basic english, maths, science and Pe but the rest you get to choose you don't have to do anymore than that if you don't want. Other than the basics I take dance, music, Italian and Spanish (which I speak fluent in) , Indonesian (which I'm fairly good at) and history. At the end of the term we get to pick new subjects I've always been quite interested in doing French and psychology, but we'll see. I picked my outfit out and put it on wondering what this year of school will bring.

I paired it with a black leather jacket that I was going to wear on the way to school. I quickly grabbed my stuff and shot out of the door to meet Emily. We always walked to school together on the first day of term we had done since we were little.
I lived in Australia till I was 5 which is when we moved to England. Emily's family had done the same. We had been best friends for what seems like forever she knows what happened in my past and I know what happened in hers, we told each other practically everything.

Dianne=D Emily=E
E-"arggg I've missed you so much"
D-"I know it's been too long"
E-"how are the girls"
D-"erm there're good, Macklynn and Eponiné miss you though, Eponiné kept saying when's Emily coming when's Emily coming"
E-"oh she is so cute"
D-"I love you Em but hearing your name can get annoying after a while"

We both laughed and walked through the school gates to meet Toff and Maddie. "Omg I'm so excited" Maddie said jumping up and down like a preschooler "omg there're here" Toff said hitting Maddie in the arm excitedly

Toff=T Maddie=M
T-"It feels like it's been forever"
M-"I don't know what I would of done if that holiday went on one day longer"
We all laughed in unison.
D-"Well it's nice to know that no matter how long the break is it can't break our friendship"I said smiling
E-"Even though the universe tries it can't break our bond"
We all giggled and put our pinkies in the middle. We had done this for a long time whether it was when we finish talking to one and another or when it's the end of a group conversation, it's like hands in except it's pinkies in.
D-"It feels good to be in the company of someone my own age or older. I mean I love my sisters but when I'm with them I look after them" "urm no you go into mother mode" Emily said interrupting me "Excuse me no I don't" I replied

T-"yeah you do"
D-" how would you know anyway, your not my little sisters"I said with a smirk on my face.
E-"urm lets think" she said sarcastically
M-"well for one sometimes you forget your not looking after them and start talking to us in that way"
D-"I do not" I said knowing full well that I did.
E-"look at your face, you even know your doing it"

We all laughed and walked to our lockers to get our stuff. Mine and Emily's lockers are in a different place to Toff and Maddie's so we separated to go find them. "Oh I need to hand this piece of work into sir, I'll be right back" Emily said as she ran to catch up with the teacher. When Emily went I grabbed everything I needed and turned around to lean on my locker so I could wait for her. When I did I noticed this boy walking down the corridor holding a large sketch book, I recognized him as he was one of the popular boys but I can't remember him speaking much. He looks mysterious but kind. "Day dreaming again are we" Emily said as she crept up behind me laughing making me jump. "Come on lets just get to registration before you give me a heart attack" we laughed and wandered off to registration. It was a new year which meant new class and new seating plan. Last year had been alright as I sat next to one of my friends in practically every lesson but I bet that was going to change this year as we had the dreaded Miss Rosetta. Maybe she isn't as bad as I make her out to be but I know she loves seating plans. The whole class walked to the back of the classroom so she could choose a seat for us one by one. I didn't notice until miss started to seat us that, that mysterious, kind boy I saw on the corridor was in my registration. "Emily and Byron on this desk" Miss Rosetta said in her stern voice. "Good luck" I whispered to Emily as she walked off to her new seat. "Evie and Oli" "Maddie and Conor" "Toff and Jack" Miss went on and on until it came to the last desk which was at the back. "That leaves Dianne and Joe at the back please" I nodded at started to walk over to my seat. The name joe kept swirling round in my head. Where did I recognize that name from? As I sat down Miss' stern voice spoke again "you have 20 minutes to get to know the person sat next to you,I will be coming round and asking you questions about each other to make sure your on task" I rolled my eyes this year had just begun and I was already bored. Here we go I said to myself.
