Chapter 53~Gone Too Soon

{Dianne's POV}

Joe and I had been showering each other in compliments. I now think we are on about round 21.

J-"Your an amazing person you know"
D-"Why"
J-"You forgave me very quickly"
D-"I forgave you the moment I left"
J-"What you did"
D-"Well yeah because everyone has a reason they get scared and nobody can help that so it's not your fault that you got scared"
J-"Yes but it's my fault with the way I acted"
D-"Yes but I forgave you for that as I said"
J-"God I love you"
D-"Are you telling God that or me"
J-"Both of you, you more so though"
D-"That rhymes slightly"

Joe laughed.

D-"We've got to perform ain't no sunshine tomorrow for the dance competition"
J-"Yeah this dance competition is no joke and we've had barely any practise"
D-"Sorry about that"
J-"No it's my fault"
D-"Call it even"
J-"Yep"

Joe and I high fived.

D-"Why don't we practise now"
J-"In here"
D-"Yeah it's big enough we'll just move the sofas"
J-"Okay"

...

D-"Joe we've practised for hours it's 10 pm and we haven't eaten yet"
J-"Okay
D-"Do you want to go to McDonald's"
J-"Ya read my mind"

...

Joe and I woke up with fries spread out all over the bed covers. Oops.

D-"Joe wake up"
J-"What... Oh what's all this"
D-"Fries"
J-"Very funny"
D-"We must have fallen asleep eating them last night because someone had us practising to silly o'clock at night"
J-"Okay Okay my bad"
D-"Mhm"

We got ready for school and headed straight out. Before we could walk inside Mr Light stopped us.

Mr L-"Oh thank God you came urmm so you guys are singing in assembly"
D-"Wait what"
J-"No we can't people will make fun of us"
Mr L-"Why you guys are amazing singers"
D-"That's not how school works"
J-"Yeah newsflash it tends to be the better you are at things the more likely you are to get made fun of for it"
D-"Yeah"
Mr L-"Well your singing and I don't care what people think"
J-"You're not singing"
D-"It won't be your problem"
Mr L-"Your singing now get in there"
D-"Urgh"
J-"Fine"

Joe whispered in my ear "We've got this right" "We better" I think it's safe to say we are both very nervous. We sat down on stools at the front with everyone staring at us. Maddie looked at me strangely I tried to mouth to her what was going on but god knows if she got it. The piano began to play here we go.

D-"Oh my we actually did it"
J-"That was nerve-wracking but it felt good"
D-"I know right"

We went to English next which went very quickly, then we had maths which also went quickly and now it was music. Thankfully! Joe and I were straight into the music studio singing we were both still pretty pumped from this morning.

When we finished we both fell onto the sofa and relaxed. I rested my head on Joe's shoulder and he rested his head on top of mine. We sat there in a silence for a bit I knew we were both thinking. When I think my mind tends to go to things I don't want to think about. Like my baby girl, I just lost.
