"We're just like we were before, Jimin. It almost feels unreal."
Jimin laughed as he looked up at the ceiling, darkness coating over his room and the soothing deep voice of his best friend ringing out from the phone pressed to his cheek. Jimin had lost track of what time it was, the moon taking over and bringing an empty abyss along with it. Jimin couldn't sleep, his heart giddy and a bursting smile plastered across his face. His days had been a bit happier and made his heart so full, some nights he wasn't exactly sure what to do with himself. And he deemed that picking up his phone at calling the friend that was the most likely to be awake at this time, a good idea, as the wild-haired dirty blonde brunette had plenty to talk about.
"I can tell."
"It's like he was never gone in the first place," Taehyung said, a ruffling sound and loud thump! being heard from the other end of the phone.
"Mr. Mustache, shut the hell up he's trying to sleep!" Taehyung shrieked in a muffled whisper to the troublesome cat on the other side of the phone. The moment Taehyung showed up it was already decided that he was staying with Hoseok. Well, he and his troublesome cat that happened to have a terrible habit of waking up the red-headed ball of sunshine in the middle of the night on more than one occasion.
Jimin laughed, ignoring Taehyungs scolding. "Im glad."
After that the two of them were greeted with silence, Jimin's smile faltering as he thought about their previous phone calls. There was something about this that put him off. That always made him feel uneasy and troubled. Taehyung had been ruined. Destroyed down to his very last blood vessel, so much to the point where even the arrival of the black and white cat couldn't fully fix him.
"Are you okay with that?"
"With what?" Taehyung replied, his voice filled with curiosity. Jimin scrunched up his nose. He didnt know how to word it. Everything just seemed too- perfect, despite everything. Jimin just didnt get it. He felt like there was more hidden under all this mess, more than he and the vibrant haired man were letting on. More than the two of them let their heart come to terms with.
"Have you ever- you said, "how you were before", you've never... I don't know." Jimin cut himself off, bracing even himself for his next words.
"Wanted.. more?"
"Ah," Taehying said in a sigh of realization. Jimin almost regretted his words the moment they left his lips. But, the man proceeded to answer as if it didnt affect him in the slightest. Like he was waiting for it.
"Of course I am. I've never really needed anything more. The stars gave me him from the start." The boy replied back happily and Jimin would bet just about anything that Taehyung had that boxy grin of his spread across every inch of his face.
"That's all I've ever really needed." He finished off quietly.
"Oh, I see," Jimin said with a nod, a small smile creeping across his cheeks. Maybe he just read into it. Hoseok and Taehyung were a subject that nobody could ever get. They weren't understandable no matter how much you tried to assume or pick apart. They had each other and connected in ways people couldn't imagine. From the outside, they seemed to be silly and chaotic. Like a couple of kids in love, spending every moment being close and doing childish things. But there was more. Unseen pieces lost in the puzzle. They were like that because, in their own small world, things were going on. And only they got it.
