"listen to me, i know i sound crazy but you can get your citizenship. we've been together for three years now. i'm eighteen and you turn eighteen in october." josh rambled on.

memmie squeezed down on his hands with tears in her eyes.

"yes." she said nodding her head. josh was quick to envelop her in his arms.

tyler and jenna only shot each other glances from opposite sides of the couch. jenna tried to convince herself that it was all gonna be okay. memmie was getting her happiness, maybe she was next.

josh and memmie left a little after to figure things out in private. that left tyler and jenna alone.

"tyler? can we talk?" jenna asked. she looked obvious hurt. there was a pit in her stomach she just couldn't get rid of.

"yeah. what's up?" tyler asked, getting seated back on the couch after picking up a bag of potato chips.

"i can't help but feel like everyone's just in this slump. something doesn't feel right, tyler." jenna s light eyebrows furrowed.

"what do you mean?" tylers eyes squinted a little. that just meant he was focusing in fully.

"it doesn't matter, my hair looks messy. i'll be back." jenna rushed out, quickly hopping off of her spot from the couch.

"jenna, i don't care what's in your hair, i just wanna know what's on your mind." he said softly. jenna let a sigh pass through her pretty lips.

"what if josh and mem don't work out? and what if i never see my family again? and what if you get thrown into some depressive episode, and-." jenna rambled while tears filled her eyes.

"jenna, breathe. we're all okay. i promise." tyler said softly. the girl tried to believe him the best she could. she only frowned and went on to the kitchen.

tyler sighed before running a hand through his dark brown hair. he hated seeing jenna like this. everything was a mess.

"brad invited us to his party, do you wanna go?" tyler asked. he looked to jenna while she peeled an orange.

"parties aren't my thing." she spoke softly, avoiding tyler's gaze.

"you're from california, parties have to be your thing." he said with a small smile. jenna laughed a little.

"trash stereotype, joseph." she rolled her eyes while tyler's lips curved into a bigger smile.

"you can get ready with memmie. it'll be fun i promise." he reassured her.

"fine. but if something does goes wrong i'm not gonna let it go."
