tyler stood outside of jenna's door. he was terrified, his heart pumped out of his chest. it was sunday evening and tyler wanted to take her out.
as friends. who was he kidding? he really liked jenna.
he knocked on the door with a bouquet of sunflowers, he remembered her mentioning how much she loved them when they went to the waffle house.
he rehearsed what he was going to say at least a hundred times.
jenna opened the door. it was surprising seeing the boy on her porch, he'd been so busy the past week she barely got to see his face.
he wore a short sleeve white button up and a pair of black skinny jeans. his hair was more kept than usual. he looked cute.
"hey, jenna." he smiled sheepishly. his cheeks heated up. tyler stop being a coward.
"hey, tyler. what's up?" jenna smiled.
loose blonde curls framed her face. she wore a white sweater tucked into a pink skirt. she was so beautiful. tyler almost forgot how to breathe.
"i was wondering if you wanted to hang out. i have nothing to do and we haven't seen each other much this week." tyler spoke, trying not to stumble over his words.
jenna's face lit up. her blue eyes shined brighter while her lips curved into a smile.
"of course. let me go grab my bag." she grinned while grabbing the bouquet of sunflowers from tyler. she thanked him softly.
something about tyler made her feel giddy. something made her want to kiss that stupid smile on his face. she couldn't do that though.
she quickly picked up her white clutch bag and sped walked to the door. tyler waited out on the porch, fiddling with the large black umbrella in his hand.
jenna walked out with rose dusted cheeks and fidgety hands. she'd been around him for so long but she was just now feeling nervous about him. this was odd.
tyler quickly put the umbrella up over jenna's head and held it there all the way to his car. he opened the door for her and made his way to the drivers seat.
"such a gentleman, mr.joseph." jenna giggled. tyler shook his head with a chuckle as he turned on the radio.
tyler pulled out from the driveway and began on a route jenna had never gone. she just rested her head on the window while tyler sang along with something on the radio.
"and i don't want the world to see me, cause i don't think that they'd understand. when everything's meant to be broken, i just want to to know who i am." he sang.
jenna liked when he sang. tyler didn't like his voice too much. he realized that when he recorded himself singing on his computer. he hated it. tyler stopped singing.
"i like when you sing. you have a nice voice, tyler." jenna gushed.
"oh thank you." tyler felt his cheeks heat up a little. thank god he had to keep his eyes on the road.
the drive was long so tyler struck up a conversation. from funny childhood memories to each other's greatest fears. they had to know the other like the back of their hand.
"here we are." tyler smiled, putting his car into park.
the car was parked in front of an arcade. he prayed jenna liked it. that was settled when her eyes widened and a smile painted across her lips.
