the four teenagers sat around jenna's living room couch. jenna slumped back a bit, god she was tired.
the atmosphere was quiet but the blonde deserved it. tyler and josh shot each other sympathetic looks while memmie rubbed jenna's back while sipping on her baja blast.
"i should probably explain myself." jenna said, putting her taco down that only had a few nibbles out of it.
"only if you're ready." tyler added quickly. his cocoa eyes met jenna's. her eyes looked cold between her lack of rest and sought out sorrow.
the rain poured outside, it wouldn't have been surprising if it turned to snow. josh had stared the fireplace for the four of them.
memmie cuddled into her boyfriends chest to help fight off the cold. tyler only had the taco bell in his hands to give him warmth and jenna was still clothed in tyler's white hoodie.
"my parents, they started doing drugs. heavy stuff too. they'd go out on weekends to go on runs and come back and loose their minds the rest of the week. i guess they went haywire yesterday. thank god i the neighbors caught them when they did." jenna's words were soft. they started to break with tears as she continued.
"my mom almost overdosed. my dad was on a high and he freaked out. he didn't know what to do and if the neighbors didn't call in a noise complaint they probably would have both been dead. my dad got arrested and my mom got admitted to rehab." jenna had yet to notice she was crying.
the three friends found it hard to give her advice. they all came from good families and had never dealt with something like this before.
"jenna, we're all here for you." josh spoke softly. memmie nodded her head.
"we love you so much already. you're the best addition to this friendship we could have ever asked for." tyler said, his words laced with sincerity.
love was such a strong word to jenna. yes, she loved many things but people were different. it was hard to find love within people.
jenna choked out a hard sob. she hid her face in her hands while she buried herself deeper into the couch.
tyler raced over to her side to hug her, on his broken leg. it hurt him but it hurt even more to see one of his friends crying. josh and memmie quickly followed.
they stayed like that for close to the whole night. up until twelve thirty am when memmie decided to answer her mothers frantic texting.
"hola, madre. si, yo estoy llegando a casa. estoy con josh." the smaller girl groaned over the phone. it brought a small smile to everyone's faces.
memmie and josh said their goodbyes to jenna and tyler. it was hard to let go of their hugs. that left jenna and tyler.
"tyler?" jenna asked. her reddened eyes met the brunettes.
"yeah?" tyler looked to her. every time he looked at her he fell for that face. her sugar like cheeks and her sweet tea lips. jenna was like spring.
she's not too summer but she definitely isn't winter. she doesn't fall too much in line with autumn either. tyler needed to stop thinking.
"do you think you could stay the night?" jenna asked, pulling her hood off her blonde head of hair.
"of course." tyler responded.
