jenna woke up broken this morning. tears from last night still sat dry on her face. the house was a wreck.
that hadn't been surprising, it happened at least twice a week. her parents would trip with paranoia from their drugs and go completely haywire.
jenna only sighed. her room was the only one in the small house left in stable condition considering it was on complete lockdown.
quickly, the blonde got ready for another day of school. today she just threw a yellow shirt on, tucked into a pair of light blue jeans. she paired that with her white tennis shoes and headed to the door.
"jenna, wait!" she heard her mother call. the older woman's voice was strained from the uncontrollable screaming from the night before.
"yes, mom." she stopped in her tracks on the way to the door. her mother looked at her with pleading eyes.
"jenna, i need money. please, jenna. i need money." the same words ran out of her lips over and over again while tears welled up in her eyes.
she was obviously still on a high. jenna's eyes clouded with tears.
"no, mom. i don't get paid till next week." she lied. she still faced the door, not wanting to look her own mother in the eyes.
"jenna, i don't care! we need money, jenna! we're gonna die! they're gonna come and take all we have!" the woman yelled even louder. it was like her eyes were going to pop out of her head if she stared at her daughter anymore.
jenna turned around to her mother. it was almost like looking into her own blue eyes. only this time, they were spirited and panicked.
"nobody is coming for us. and no, i'm not giving you money." she grumbled with a clenched jaw, the words hardly passed through her pink lips.
her mother dug her hands through her slowly fading blonde hair. the older woman cried out.
"jenna, you don't understand!" her blank stare fogged with tears. jenna cut her off abruptly.
"no. nobody is coming, you don't need my money, and i don't trust you with money. you're just gonna take off with more drugs and destroy the house even more. if someone is coming to hurt you, they missed their chance because you are so fucked up already." jenna said, her gaze still interlocked with her mother's.
the older woman only stared. little did she know, everything that came out of jenna's mouth was right. the meth told her otherwise.
"goodbye." jenna said, a hint of annoyance in her voice. she was quick to slam the door and make it out of the driveway to school.
