dinner had gone amazing. jenna found peace within the joseph's, which was nice of course. she needed that family value time.
kelly ran a hand through her greying hair, getting rid of all the wisps from her face.
"ty, honey? how about you go help your father finish up with the dishes? take the trash out too please." she said with a small smile.
tyler gave a small groan before kissing jenna on the cheek. her heart spun for him.
"jenna, i want to tell you something, it's about tyler." the older woman gulped. jenna just nodded.
"when tyler was little he was diagnosed with depression. he was maybe eleven or twelve?" the woman sighed.
jenna was taken aback. but tyler was so outgoing and he was always smiling. there was no way.
"how?" jenna asked, it pained her a little bit. all she could think of was the continual pressure she was probably putting on the poor boy.
"his insecurities can get the best of him. i remember the first time i saw his scars. they were across his stomach. he had sworn that it was from josh's cat, josh didn't even have a cat." kelly wiped some of the stray tears from her eyes.
"even just last year he'd leave out to the forest and just scream. he wouldn't be able to talk for the next few days. but you came along and i don't think i've seen him this alive, jenna." the older woman smiled.
jenna reached over to hug her. they stayed like that for a little while.
"i don't know what i would have done without him. i know it's only been a couple months of know him but he's helped me let go of so much from the past. he has such this light about him, he knows how to make people feel safe and i love that about him." jenna smiled. her mind went in circles thinking about the sweet boy.
"thank you, jenna." kelly sniffled with a bright smile. her eyes shone just as her sons did.
"no, thank you." jenna said, she couldn't wipe this smile off of her face.
silence overhung on the two while tyler and his siblings helped clean up dinner along with their father. they came to the living room soon after.
tyler took a seat next to jenna, quickly lacing his hand within hers. he thought to himself how lucky he was.
she was so perfect. her constellation of freckles across her tan cheeks, down to those neptune blue eyes. he loved how soft her words free flowed and how everything she spoke was so well said, even through stutters.
he was in awe.
