tuesday afternoon. the sky was hazy with pinks and oranges while the sun set. this was the first time jenna had been outside of the police station since the afternoon before.
she spent the time with the corrections officer, kelly. they tried to work out her living situation and solutions for her emotional issues.
jenna thanked the taller women before heading out of the sliding glass doors. for a little while, she'd be living alone.
living alone wouldn't be much of a difference. the thought crossed her mind back and forth. it wouldn't be much different than it already was. jenna made all the money and basically learned how to live alone by thirteen.
the blonde hopped into her small white car and started her drive back home. it was awkwardly silent. who knew that could have happened in lonesome?
she would have called tyler or memmie, even josh, but she didn't have a single phone number from any of them.
she couldn't help but feel dull, black and white almost. it unnerved her a little. even though the sky looked like rainbow sherbet with cotton candy clouds, she couldn't help but feel gone.
a part of her didn't seem like it was all the way there. she let a sigh pass through her chapped pink lips while she pulled into her driveway.
to her surprise, three people sat on the steps of her porch. josh sat with his arm wrapped around memmie's small frame and tyler sat alone, looking down at his phone.
his face perked up when he saw jenna's face. he missed her dreamy angelic face and her diamond like eyes. yes, he knew it had only been a day.
"what are you guys doing here?" jenna asked softly while she picked herself up from the drivers seat of the car. the three stood up.
"we missed you today, girlie. we brought you some food too." memmie smiled sympathetically to jenna.
"thank you." jenna was so taken aback with happiness she almost cried.
between the stress of her parents, her lack of sleep, and the fact that she hadn't eaten in around two days, it made her emotional.
the three others followed her inside the house that the policemen had investigated and cleaned prior to her parents arrests.
"if you don't mind telling us, what happened?" tyler asked, sitting himself down in a dining chair to rest his broken leg.
