"Ms. Payne, Ms. Payne.." John said, nudging me.
"Urrr... whaaa?" I asked, my eyes still closed.
"We are here."
Wait, what now? I opened my eyes and shot up out of my seat. "We landed already?" I asked.
"Yes." John said.
"So that means...its time to meet them?" I asked, feeling nervous.
"Yes." He repeated. I sighed shakily and checked my reflection in my tiny compact mirror. I still looked good.
"Ok then. Lets go." I said, my knees feeling weak.
"Follow me." He said, and led me to another dark hallway/alley thingy from the plane door. I followed him for what felt like hours till I saw light. I froze. At the end of the tunnel was a family. A nervous/excited mother and father, holding hands and looking around. Two sisters, talking anxiously. A brother, his hands in his pockets, looking at the ground.
My stomache and throat immediatly filled with butterflies. That was my family. I dropped my suitcases and walked slowly to them, walking ahead of John, who then stopped and went to get my stuff, leaving us a private reuinion.
I walked to the end of the tunnel and stopped. They didnt realize I was there, until the father's -my father's- eyes landed on me. He gasped, and then everyone noticed me. My mom -Karen's- hand went to her mouth. My sisters, Nicola and Ruth, had their jaws dropped open. And Liam, my twin brother, looked at me with awe.
I felt a lump fill my throat. "Hi." I whispered. They just stood there, looking at me with amazment. Karen started to cry, and so did Ruth. I felt the tears rush to my eyes. I could see the pain Sara did to them. I felt guilty. "Im sorry." I said, and the tears overflowed.
"No, no, its not your fault." Karen said, and ran to me, giving me a huge hug. I stood there awkwardly, then I wrapped my arms around her too. "Call me Mum." She whispered in my ear.
"Ok.. mom?" I said, feeling weird saying the m-word again.
"And me Dad," Geoff/Dad said. I smiled at him, and sniffed. Mom let go of me.
"We are so happy your here." She said.
"Me too." I smiled. And I was. It felt good. It felt like... home, kinda.
"Call me anything you want." Nicola said, and I laughed. It felt good to laugh, too.
"Same," Ruth sniffed.
Liam just stood there, frozen, like he couldnt believe it. I looked at him, seeing all our similarities. Our eyes, our nose, our mouth, our hair (exept mine is lighter from the sun), our birthmark. He was taller than me, though. "Hey." I said, waving awkwardly.
"Oh, um, Hi." He said, squinting at me. I felt like a science expirement.
"I got your things, Ms. Payne." John said, coming up next to me.
I turned to him. "Call me Liana, please." Ms. Payne makes me feel like an old woman.
"Ok, Liana." He smiled. He turned to Mom and Dad (Boy, that feels weird calling them that) and introduced himself.
"Alrighty then, lets get going home. John, I called you a cab to get to your apartment. If Liana goes out soon, I will call you." Dad said.
"She will be fine going to the car?" John asked. Yesh, the car is probably 5 feet away from the door.
"Yes, there isnt any paparazzi here today." Mom smiled.
"Ok then. See you soon." John said, then walked the other way. I grabbed my suitcases and followed Mom and Dad to the car.
